Kosuke Endo contender for try of the tournament

Kosuke Endo contender for try of the tournament

This has got to be a serious contender for try of the tournament. Not only because it's a great try spanning the length of the field, but because once again we see a minnow team playing great rugby against a traditional rugby nation.

Last night the Japanese lost this game against the Welsh 72-18, but they performed admirably in the first half and held their heads high.

Kosuke Endo's try will no doubt go down in history as one of the best Japanese World Cup tries ever seen.

Great try indeed!Being portuguese, I tend to over-appreciate the tries of the under-dogs like Japan.Teams like Japan or my beloved Portugal cannot put an enduring challange over 80mins against the classic rugby nations, but we can, when we have the ball, go forward with our heads high and try to play quality rugby. This try only goes to show that. And its an extra argument agains the IRB plan to cut the teams in the world cup.

As a supporter of another minnow nation, it's so good to see rugby like this. Hands down, the single best try of the 2007 RWC so far. And, as the poster above said, yet another reason why the idiots at the IRB need to let go of the idea that culling the tournament down to 16 teams is for the game's good. Simply ridiculous.

The RWC should be broken down into groups of 3 and then have a super 8's group then a knock-out at the end, like in 20/20 CricketThat way no-one will have a clue what the hell is going onGreat try, bit like Wales in RWC 2003

Fantastic try just goes to show that even the small teams have more than earned their place at the world cup. Great hands and great speed for the try, and the other try they scored wasn't half bad eitherP.S. I fear for the integrity of my country (Ireland) in about 1 hours time after what the french will probably do to us.

this try is world class. the ab would do well to score a try like this, and its not like the welsh defense is that bad either. great movement by the japanese.

Try of the cup so far, just wish the minnows had better funding to enable them to compete and give the top teams a run for their money.

Absolutely brilliant. What a spectacular succession of passes. I haven't seen many matches of the RWC, but from what I've seen this is by far the best try -though the one I enjoyed the most was Corleto against France :).

Methinks that beats the Barbarians team try of '73. Marvellous Japan! A joy to watch...They really should focus on Rugby as their main national sport, I mean, what else do they play?

I'm new to the sport of rugby, and I thought you have to push the ruck past the ball to get possession. Why could he just jump over and grab it without rucking?

you have to come thru the back of a ruck so if you can walk thru the middle like the jap did you can pick it up and run. plus the ball is technically out because the player rucking has his knees on the ground, so he is no longer rucking just part of the pile. but great try

he could pick it up because the ball was out

Someone check me on this. I don't see where the ball ever contacted the try zone until the player was in touch. His arm was in the way. Great play, no doubt. But it doesn't look like a try to me.

He scored the try even before he was tackled. Look at it he downs the ball just before he was hit and rolled over.

The ball never touched the fround in the try zone. first his armm is in the way and then as he rolls over he's out!!The best "try" of the tournament though!!
