Tom Shanklin try saving tackle on Juan Smith
A brilliant covering tackle from Welsh center Tom Shanklin on big Juan Smith as he charged for the line epitomised the dedication and spirit of Barbarians rugby. Shanklin got in low to drive the much larger man out with no problem.
Legendary All Black Justin Marshall was on hand to take to inside flick, which if he weren't, would have easily been collected by Bryan Habana. The commentators sing Marshalls praises, but in my opinion the actual tackle is the real try saver.
Well played by both of them though. Juan Smith is a giant of a man and Bryan Habana is a true predator, so Tom Shanklin and Justin Marshall, take a bow.

it was a good tackle but with out marshall it would be a try

Not to take away from marshall.... but the inside pass wouldnt have happened without the tackle....without the tackle it would have been a try... definitely the tackle was the try saver here.

good defence all around, a try saver typically is only honoured if it is one hit, but this was a good team effort, not just there but in the whole gamei love the barbarians, and good to see them down south africa, even though they only had 5 guys from the world cup winning side (but then again for the same reasons the baa baa's were short players too)super job on the save either way

shanklin is a great player, and puts some nice big hits in.he may lack a bit of speed, but he is kinda huge soo :D
