Julian White loses his head and tries to take off Malcolm O'Kellys

Leicester vs Leinster at Wellford Road yesterday turned out to be somewhat of a classic. A game full of incident and good rugby, it was marred by a few moments of insanity that are hard to comprehend.

Big English front rower Julian White clearly lost his head after something must have been done to him deep in the trenches of the front row. He lost his cool completely, throwing a few airshots and then lining up big Malcolm O'Kelly and lauching a right hook that would have knocked most mere mortals to the ground.

The human punch-bag O'kelly barely budged, and White got sent to the bin with nothing more than a yellow card. The citing commission is going to be busy this week.

Ah Jackman why didn't you start a mele ?Thats pretty much what we've come to expect from Julian white though. Complete overreaction. Fair play to O'kelly for not retaliating. If only Leinster had made their numerical advantage count.... bloody Leinster, Sad Leinster Fan

What a beautiful punch! White's bringing back the biff! Seriously, that is a cracking whack, and how the hell did O'Kelly stay upright?! He must have a skull like Homer Simpson.White will probs get the mandatory 4-6week suspension for that, which, even as a Leicester fan, is fair enough.

The first ones to the top of the head wouldn't have hurt. He only really connected with the last one and how much he connected is debatable. No excuse for White's behaviour and he had to go.

A mate of mine regularly played against him when White was at Okehampton. He says he was renowned for being too easy to wind up. More sledging please! :)

Think the punch is a bit overrated it was on the side of the head but away from the temple. Idiotic from white he had the penalty.Well played o'kelly he didnt dive like a pansy footballer which would have got white a red i think and didnt retaliate.

thats a hell of a punch, whether it belongs on a rugby pitch or not is another thing.however, O'Kelly doesnt seem moved by it at all. at the end of the day it takes more to do what O'Kelly did. best example of this has to be when matt rogers went for josh lewsey. lewsey did nothing, then put in an amazing tackle on rogers a few mintues later. thats got to be rugby at its best

Julian white acted like some emotionally imbalanced teenager. Completely loses the rag and goes after o'kelly after he'd moved away.Chris P i think youve mixed up boxing with rugby. There's no place for that crap in the game. Only macho thick-heads who don't/can't play the game are interested n the scraps. If some git punches you, hope he doesn't get sent off and wait for the next time he gets the ball. If you want to get involved in a fight join a boxing club

It's obvious you lack any knowledge on England or its people... Because if you did you'd know the ENGLISH people expected to do shit in the World Cup.I'm sure there were a ton of English people sat around moaning on some "Oh bollocks, i'm angry, England did better than i'd hoped they would"And me and the other chap aren't the same person. There's a thousand people posting without a nickname... ah I'm not saying the Irish aren't capable and guilty of some really awful on-field stuff. Check out the claw in his "prime" or Easterby's swinging arm on Michalak in the WC for example. But I think there is a different mentality on the whole beyween Irish and English clubs when it comes to punch ups and "third man in" situations. I really must protest that this opinion is not a racist one. If youo find it such you must get offended quite regulalry.

Sorry to my Irish friend...wrong choice of words.Being a Welshman brought up in England i've learnt just to enjoy rugby and I see them as individuals rather than countries. I do not condone needless violence, however it is a game in which mild mannered men have been known to see red. Its just Rugby. Persistant offenders like JW and Grewcock are bad news but its not just confined to England. There are alot of teams in England and has the highest rugby playing population anywhere, its no suprise the statistics are not in favour. It doesn't really bother me but I just prefer look at it from a fence sitters perspective. Alot of the comments left here are by a bunch of middle-aged frontrowers who used to waddle round the pitch back in the day, go for a few scrums, punch another player in the face, maybe a lineout or two, then have a post match pint. But unfortuantely the games changed and it leaves Julian White looking like a fat farmer with a lovely big ban.

"It was a perfectly innocent stamp on the head."It WAS a perfectly innocent stamp on the head! Opposing player was holding his leg at the time and pulling it towards other opposing player's head. Flannery's surely entitled to lift his foot up off the ground; and if it happens to be pulled down on someone's face by someone else, that's just gravy! But I'm sure he knew what he was doing :DJulian White taking on Big Mal hahaha! It was a clean punch straight in the face - I watched on Sky Sports and they had it from all angles.

It was a clean punch straight in the face - I watched on Sky Sports and they had it from all angles.

i have to agree with a com about half way up.. it is the fact tbat irish players in general never sort this kind of stuff out and let teams walk all over them.. bar dennis leamy and a few other forwards they let teams walk all over them this video being one example. another being the game against eng for 6 nations title when they let johnson and eng stand on their side of carpet and let them do it. in that instant they shud have jus stood in front of the english team and forced them to move. and in this video bernad jackman should have totally cleaned white out of it and made sure he'd never do it again.

It looks like this was far more deserving of a red than this most recent incident with White and Sheridan. O'Kelly was pretty defenseless there. All in all, it looks like the French Ref handled it very well, although you could not have criticized him had a red come out.

I wouldn't have a problem with this if it wasn't for JW holding onto Mal's shirt while he punches him - that's something a bully does, not a rugby player.

I was chatting with someone in the crumbie terrace yesterday and apparently Whitey was having a "tender part" of his body pulled, hit and scrunched....
If this is true and I believe it is Whitey I feel was more than entitled to smack him one!

I'd have to say, maybe because of his background we can accept his actions because I am also a farmer and play rugby also. When I get a bit ticked off by those who play dirty, I just stop them and invite them to the sideline and whack the smirks off their faces..... So maybe fighting on the rugby pitch isn't about races or whose tough enough, its merely the mentality encountered whilst growing up. Even I am not even close to England but fighting is part and parcel of the game here. Whatever happens on the field stays on the field, so once the game finishes, we sit around a bowl of kava and laugh and joke till early morning.... So chill people.... You don't have to fight to be a man, but sometimes you've got to fight when you are a man...
