Official Six Nations Launch ahead of Saturday

Official Six Nations Launch ahead of Saturday

The highly anticipated RBS Six Nations 2008 kicks off on Saturday with Ireland meeting Italy at Croke Park to kick off the tournament.

This years tournament will be intriguing as it's only a few months after the World Cup, a World Cup cup in which certain teams exceeded expectations and others failed miserably.

We're working feverishly to get the Rugbydump Forum up so you can all give your predictions, but until then here is the official launch video for this years Six Nations, with interviews with the captains and coaches.

Who's your money on?

Thats alittle too much fence sitting for my liking...."We are looking to build on the results achieved in the world cup and are confident that we will make an impact" would have set my mind far more at ease....

if wales/ospreys get off to a good start against a weak english side, then they have every chance of doing well, and maybe even winning, as france are in transition, and who knows with the irish atm!

Yes, shaving your legs is the new thing in rugby.

Would like to say England will do it. But, I gotta question the selection of Toby Flood in the centre! Why drop Tait??? He was coming in to his own at the back end of the world cup, dropping him is not gonna help his confidence at all. Why is Hipkiss not even in the squad?? and Jamie Noon??? All three are better centers than Flood.AND, Balshaw at full back??? surely there are better options then this?? EG, Tait at 15, with noon or Hipkiss in the centre with Tindall!!!Would like to see Moody in the 6 shirt with Tom Rees at 7 too!!!

Simon Webster was sent because Jason White had the shits apparently.

My money goes on France, for sure. A side which is much better than in the World cup.. The oldest players left, new talents are in, a new coach, and a wole new game strategy, based on movment and hand play. They will shine, for no one is a match for them right now.

my money (as it can be obvious) is on Italy...not a grand slam but....Maybe a triple crown???I mean....if we put our heads to it this time...we're a hell of a great team...that's all we need...concentration.If not so I'd like to see ireland come out on top.(I've got Irish heritage).

^ thats what I was wondering. Vickery talks about anyone but France, talks like if France isn't even in the tournament.

can Italy win a triple crown ?Its really just between France and England but Wales could suprise people. I just hope Ireland have some sort of return to form.......

its all a bit short notice and no where near sorted yet in Wales, but still i'll be interested to see how much better we play on saturday. who knows, we could get our old form back.

The reason France may not win it is because of some strange/poor selections by the new coach. Ashton made a poor desiosion in swapping tait for Balshaw, only as tait had 1 average game last week. I think if England played the Ospreys they would win. Therefor we will win on Sat (13 players in the Welsh team from Ospreys).Moneys on Ireland for a comeback from the WC

Ok I see nobody is giving Scotland a chance here, well look what happened the last time England and France came to Murrayfield! They are a settled team with some exciting new talent-Nick de Luca at centre will be a 6 nations star. Oh and simon Webster will beat anyone 1 on 1 given a chance (just hope his defence is solid)

Tindall & Tait? tindall is an outside centre, so how do you play him and tait in the same team when Tait played 13 as well? For england played:12: Greenwood13: TindallBath Played:12: Barkley:13: TindallGloucester play:12: Allen13: Tindalli feel sorry for tait, he should have been on the bench at least, but i guess the view is that Cipriani covers, 10/12/13/15. Wigglesworth cover 9 & 10 having played there a bit for Sale last season.I think overall France are going to be the team to beat, they play england in Paris, so if they can turn over Scotland at Murrayfield, they normally start slowly, i think they'll be oncourse for the tournament, and possibly a Grand Slam.I think Deusattoir (spelling?) is a super 7 and they just need to find a great 6. i think a few of the backs will have a point to prove after Laportes conservative/negative selections.I think they'll go back to flair backs behind a formidible pack under Lievremont.on a side note: I'm moving to Paris next month for three years, I fully intend to get to as many tests as possible :)

If Ashton has got the balance right (as its not all just about the in form players), England will win. I hope the Ospreys do well though. Watch out for Italy sneaking under the radar ....cant wait. 'Le crunch' is always my favourate though.

I despair as to why ashton would ever pick balshaw at fullback, he's played poorly for gloucester at 11, and at the best of times he's always been flakey. It seems he's had some kind of love affair with him ever since he worked with him at bath, despite him now being half the player he was then. i don't see the fascination with borthwick either, pfft. on a side note..."omg wat a puff the italian guy was wearing make-up!!!!"you wouldn't say that if you saw his fiancee! phworr.

i would hav said ireland until steady eddie decided 2toleave out the best player in the country at de moment- jamie heaslip. and how is it a "form" selection 2 pick rory best ahead of jackman? also andrew trimble is an average centre and a terrible winger. oh well at least eddie might finally be sacked...

Brian Aston's a fool, he's only gone and dropped Tait. And to the second person I agree that Jason White should be captain because he's a very god player.

who you calling a nugget ya muppet ? I know Jason White is the cpatain , I just wondered why the hell we picked Simon Webster , I mean surely there are better players to send than him. Christ he's usually on the bloody bench !

As a Frenchman, honestly, I'm not too sure the XV de France will retain the title. I will support my team, of course, especially if they stick to playing fast, exciting rugby with new players as the new coach seems to want to. I think England will be very dangerous, especially with cipriani at 10. I hope we'll beat 'em though. But what I would like to see most is a good tournament from Scotland (see you in murrayfield this sunday) and Wales. We all want to see an open competition, don't we?

Agreed Bert,Thats the beauty of the 6 nations. As an English supporter I think the French will be very hard to beat at home. (and I think they might have a few axes to grind!)Its going to be a good one.

i dnt feel tht balshaw is the best choice, however, with players such as cipriani on the bench; the backs are pretty much covered.in his first season, i remember balshaw as bein an amazing player and he had the sort of wow factor about him. however, if ashton wnts 2 play him, thn y not give him a chance. he has been brilliant, so give him a shot. hopefully we will get to see vanikolo and cipriani, however, certain positions should not be comprismised such as tindal and strettle, as these are the only two players who can really make a difference. tindal is not the most exciting player, however, his defence is excellent and he creates spaces and executes well at some times. strettle is a player, who is absolutely phenominal with the ball , given any space he will execute and make yards, his tackling last year was not best, however, watching him play for quins in all sorts of positions, i truly feel that he will fit in perfectly on the wing.My team tht ashton should have picked (backs as i agree with fowards set up):9.Gomarsall10. Wilkinson11. Sackey (Vanikolo at half time)12. Cipriani (gives wilkinson options and alsoexperience and flair outside him)13. Tindall14.Strettle15.Balshaw
