Biggest hits of the 2008 Six Nations

Biggest hits of the 2008 Six Nations

The 2008 Six Nations dished up a fair helping of great hits, both legal and, well, not so legal.

Competitive right till the last day of the tournament, players put their bodies on the line for their countries, which resulted in some massive hits, collisions, and the odd ridiculous shoulder in the back.

The video will hopefully bring back some good memories and remind you of the some of the more physical moments we experienced in recent weeks.

Here it is - the Biggest Hits of the 2008 Six Nations.

The format of the Six Nations makes it competitive right until the very last day every year.I think this is the very best thing of the Six Nations; every week is exciting. It has been exciting this year despite the fact that it hass been won in Grand Slam fashion. What could make next year's less competitive?

This is a great video. I'm just frustrated that Andrew Trimble's great hit against Scotland is being overlooked by just about everybody.

Great montage! It had everything: The good, the bad and the Regan.

Great compilation - Jason White's tackle still probably the best although tackler of the tournament is surely Jamie Noon, who is a tackle monster.

AK March 26, 2008 10:05 am

Yeah, Noon was the most consistant tackler for me and most of them were hay makers. Good combi guys.

What about Jamie Noon on Heaslip? Probably the best one of the whole tournament!

flanker 6 March 26, 2008 11:23 am

Indeed! Jamie noon had 3 or 4 great hits against ireland. Lee byrne : Twice he just dives on the ground like a footballer

Can't believe thatnot one Irish tackle made it into the compilation !! Heaslip, Trimble and BOD al mad ehuge tackles against scotland, Kearney's on Byrne, or Wallace on Flood would've been good too. Bit disappointed with that but otherwise a good compilation

O'Driscoll had a terrible tournaent.. The fact that he was subject to many tackles is a sign...

PZ March 26, 2008 2:31 pm

Yeah, why aren't there any Irish tackles? Considering how rubbish they were in attack there must be an odd good one amongst the hundreds they made.Or did they miss most of their tackles? :)

The clash between Castrogiovanni (#3) and the England player (Shaw?) is hard. Two heavyweights colliding, which could very well be monitored on the scale of Richter.

Oh come on you Irish moaners, get over yourselves and stop feeling hard done by! Geez that's pathetic. You honestly think that the video has been made to piss you off?? I bet the English guys also don't like the odd Jamie Noon hit not making it, or the Italians will find something to moan about if they really want. The point is stop being negative and just enjoy the damn video FFS. The day you pay to use RD is the day you can complain. Until then, appreciate it for what it is and the effort these guys make. That said, the song isn't my fav but hey, great vid. :)

What are you whinging about, that fantastic Bernard Jackman hit/cheap shot made it!

Third Centre March 26, 2008 4:32 pm

Ah I think its a fair point Sharky. There are no Irish tackles on it and I think there were plenty that should have made it. Nobody mentioned this being done on purpose to piss of Irish people. where'd you get that idea from ?In fact i complimented the video but just thought it a bit unfair that not one Irish tackle made it on and every other country is well represented. I obviously don't believe this is something that was done on purpose.I was merely expressing my disappointment at the lack of Irish representation in the compilation. sorry if that offended ya Sharky. Can someone please tell me how being tackled means you've had a rubbish tournament Ave ? seems like some faulty logic going on there.....

Oh and The Jackman thing ? Come on !!

Sharky March 26, 2008 4:48 pm

Fair enough Third Centre, just bare in mind that it must be a tough job finding every hit from every match so I guess the occasional tackle gets overlooked.Purely accidental that the irish aren't well represented I'm sure. Maybe the fact of the matter is there just weren't enough big irish tackles to be included? Someone mentioned Trimbles, but besides that? anyway... don't want to start another argument about it... although I probably just did. :)Sensitive bunch us RD fans.

I listed some of the tackles that could've been in contention for the vid above although i do concede that finding footage of them may have been difficult.Still, couldn't hurt to have a look...

the fact of the matter is that the irish jus are not physical enough team..i am irish the only tackle i can really think of that deserves to be here is trimbles..and thats only one.and untill we start getting more physcal in the contact area we are going to win jack shit.and bernard jackman one shouldnt be in there prob the stupidest hit of the tournament wen we still had chance to win the game and he gifts wales 3 points. ha great vid too btw ha

I don't quite know why my comment that O'Driscoll took a few hits was deleted... it was a statement, not meaning to downplay any achievements O'Driscoll has ever had. Being subject to tackles is likely to be the fault of the person from which you received the pass, which happened to O'Driscoll a couple of times in this video.Lee Byrne diving on the ground like a footballer? Try getting punched in the face and tell me it tickles.

Class vid but a lot of irish stuff left out e.g Trimble tackle on Henderson, Kearney on Lee Byrne, Kearney running over Shane Williams, O'Driscoll on a Scottish forward, the Tony Buckley hand-off that floored a Scottish player and the Heaslip hit on Vainikolo

having said that i do appreciate the effort that goes into making the vid, and it is a very good video

Colin, if you had a comment deleted it's probably because you posted as Anonymous before. RD moderates the comment boards and doesn't like Anonymous posters. :)I doubt it was anything to do with what you said...

Harry, why do you need to go our your way to make a negative comment for 'gods sake'??! I hate that. Just hit the mute button if you don't like it. See how enjoyable 4 mins of video is with broken commentary that doesn't make sense, or with pure silence. Think about it.
