Lesley Vainikolo loses his temper against Munster

Lesley Vainikolo loses his temper against Munster

Earlier today, in the Heineken Cup Quarter Final match between Munster and Gloucester, we saw Lesley Vainikolo's bad side. No, I'm not referring to his hair, although that also needs some attention.

The big occasion understandably had everyone pumped up, but for whatever reason Big Les decided to fling Rua Tipoki to the ground unnecessarily. I personally couldn't see what Tipoki did initially, but it looks like the big English winger took exception to something, which then started a series of scuffles with the Munster players, and even had one of the commentators accusing Tipoki of poking Vainikolo in the eye.

So as it turns out, Big Les has a big temper, and it doesn't take much to get him rattled.

The whole situation was pretty silly, but it does a great job of illustrating what's great about most rugby refs. You'd certainly never see a football ref talk with that much authority.

Well done macho man, but lets be honest, Vainikolo has no future in rugby union, all those steroids and he's a kiwi at the end of the day, no way he merits being one of the 15 representatives of England in a full interntional, what a joke

tbh it didnt seem to me like big les knew the munster 13 had the ball...and as a neutral from new zealand right, it definitely seemed to me like the munster players started it, vanikolo made the tackle and the munstermen went looking for a fight like they always seem to do...its completely dennis leameys fault starting it all, if it wasnt for his punches nothing would have happened

Tipoki is a dirty filthy c@nt. He has a record of foul play longer than anyone else in rugby and it extends to battering ordinary everyday joes in bars too. In fact he was in such an incident just before he moved over and to Ireland. AS for him having Vainikolo, " yeah right". poking someone from the blindside while he^s in a discussion with your forward pack is not hard. Tipoki is filth, and this wont be the last incident he is involved in.

Can't say I've been too impressed with Vainikolo. Never receives the ball on the left with Sinbad there and never really gets chance to get any real pace onto it. Every game he shows what he can do with some raw power (takes two to take him down) but unless he starts trying to get the ball hes of no use. Should start making more runs off his wing like Tuilagi does, breaking the line.As for this, scuffle over nothing really? Poke in the eye by Tipoki, what we've come to expect from him really.

Vainikolo had "KARA" braided into the back of his hair, last week an interview with an irish news paper, Tipoki siad the younger kiwis in munster like Mafi and Manning were calling him KARA, a name he picked up in new zealand for his back injury i think it means old man in Maori, the young munster boys were messing but i wonder does Vainikolo and Tipoki have some sort of history? Doubt they ever rubbed shoulders before, maybe there is something deaper!?

Munster are just simply the best team in europe. Gloucester couldnt even mount a good enough attack to get through the defence and Nigel Owens was a very biased ref yesterday. He left gloucester off with a lot of crossing, not releasing and forward passes. but Munster still destroyed them... COME ON MUNSTER!!!! haha imagine "Big gay les" started like that in Thomond park.. hed be shot cuz its at de back of moyross haha. englishmen actin like that in limerick city aint a good idea!!! haha

Tipoki didn't poke him in the eye, he was pointing at him. Anyway at least the Munster players play for each other and don't take shit. Vainikolo just lost the rag because he knows he's shit at Union. This isn't league where you run into someone and get the ball back. He started it by throwing Tipoki off the ground after the whistle had gone.

Well to be fair i don't think Vainikolo knew tipoki didn't have the ball. Watch Tipoki for the whole video he's pointing the finger at Vainikolo, gets a bit closer and then could possibly have poked him its hard to tell. Its brilliant the way O'callaghan just holds him and makes him calm down !

as a neutral obsever of european rugby i am surprised to read comments from S.H. posters claiming that munster 'are always starting fights' and 'typical munster' etc.IMO munster could be described as one of the more honest teams in world rugby and are famous for their ethos of hard work and honest play (and have a very reasonable displinary record i may add)this type of confrontation is typical of the early stages of big games such as this, and players are understandably 'pumped up'. i thought that vianokolo's action were unjustified and all that proceeded was a bit of handbags.as for the S.H. (ESP those from S.A.)posters, i think they should keep in minid the actions and mentality of their national and franchise teams, when making such comments, as they are by no means angels themselves, and known for their less than wholesome 'tactics' on occasions.munster certainly look a level above many other N.H. club teams (except the french) and should be confident of the chances of winning the HC this year..

To all the guys talking about Leamy staring a fight you don't have a clue what you are talking about. Of course you are gonna step in when one of your players get thrown about. That twat Lesley threw the punch, Leamy simply shoved him away from Tipoki. Tipoki would absolutley batter him, granted he has a bad record but since coming to Munster his discipline has been terrific. He si a perfect gentleman of the pitch

All this about munster trying to start fights is rubbish. Anybody on a rugby pitch who sees one of their players being tossed to the ground after the whistle is bound to run over and give a piece of there mind (or in Leamys case some fist as well)It signifies a close team in my opinion that they all are willing to run to support their teamate

Lads, Vainikolo's hair refers to his new born baby. Also, I have seen much worse on a rugby pitch, this was absolutely nothing, just a few pumped up rugby players. When ever there is any sort of scuffle, and Munster are involved, you'll always have a few Munster players helping out there team mate. I was suprised that no other GLAWS players got involved to back their player up. Love Tipokis shuffle as a previous poster commented. Tough bastard i'd say.

I dont think anyone else could quite match up to lomu, in spite of the several "lomu-esc" players that have been described. Anyway the modern game is different, size doesnt matter as much. For instance the "white lomu" banahan being absolutely useless against a winger who can tackle.
