Cardiff Blues great comeback to beat Llanelli Scarlets

Cardiff Blues great comeback to beat Llanelli Scarlets

Cardiff Blues produced a battling performance to come from behind to beat Llanelli Scarlets 35-25 in the Magners League on the weekend.

The win moved the Blues into second place in the league after a seesaw eight-try thriller which kept the 10,216 Arms Park crowd warm on a chilly night.

The Blues, shrugging of last week's Heineken Cup disappointment, showed early willingness to give the ball some air, but were hit by a two-try blitz before the first five minutes had elapsed.

They came back well though, and despite a stunning try by Scarlets fullback Morgan Stoddard, stayed in the game with some great play and some accurate passing.

When Blues' all-action flanker Maama Molitika stole a Scarlets line-out and Blair crossed on the opposite touchline, the Blues also claimed a bonus point.

A Nicky Robinson drop-goal completed the scoring, rounding off a fine performance in his first start since December, and robbing the visitors of a losing bonus point they had probably deserved.

a beautifull match for spectators. But the defenses sucks... and i say that especially for Cardiff Blues: take 4 (or 5) tries against Scarlets when they took 5 tries against Toulouse the last week-end!!!

Looked like a good game.Have to say the try celebrations for the first two Blues tries made those guys look like idiots. I hate try celebrations, mainly because the guy who scores the try is rarely the only one who deserves credit but they act like they've done it all themselves. The worst one ever was Iain Balshaw during the 2003 world cup. He did this bizarre thing on one knee having scored a try (don't remember which game - possibly Wales?) which made him look like a real chump.

Entertaining game, strange how people moan about defence and missed tackles. I saw Nonu stroll through a bunch of tackles on the weekend that weren't fit to stop schoolboy players yet that's not brought up.

The score in this game was actually 35 - 26, not 35-25 as stated. The only game I've seen this season that rivals this one for entertainment value is the last time the Scarlets and Blues played (at Stradey park a few weeks previously). Seriously it was another cracking game. will66, I don't remember Balshaw scoring against Wales in 2003, altho I cud be wrong. And there's nothing wrong with celebrating a try. Also it's hard to defend against the incisive play that both these sides produced; it wasnt BAD defence, it was PEERLESS offense.Dune.

I don't think there's anything wrong with celebrating a try, but when they do those pre-rehearsed moves they look arrogant.

Excellent game, don't support either side (especially not Cardiff) but was great to watch.

Celebrations are for footballers, not for rugbymen. you can be happy, you can congratulate your mates, but don't make those pathetic movements with your arms and hands! It's not US football!

Looked like a great game but I don't see how you could call it a Blues comeback lol. They were never more than 14 points behind

The game was very exciting to watch live and as a Blues fan i was very happy to see such a promissing win. The defence was good through out the game, thought the clip does not show this as it only shows trys where defences have to be breached. As for try celebrations, i agree that they are not for this sport, but i see no reason for people to get so worked up about it. Just relax!

Coming back from 14 points sounds like a good comeback to me.

Regan King must be related to someone in the Gilette family the way he cuts up defences(I just thought of that one just now)

He had one AB cap, against wales but his chances of playing for them again while he's in Wales are slim/non existant.

this game just proves that there is absolutely no need for ELV's

Correct it was Greenwood at the Millenium Stadium, he could be mistaken for Balshaw cos at that time he had bleached his hair.

What are these ELVs that are meant to open the game up? Biggest load of rubbish and i seriously hope that they don't get brought in as matches such as this prove that rugby doesn't need fixing. I remember watching this on the telly and thinking "What a match".Brilliant.
