Massive mismatch - Sit down Peter Stringer
Roberts is big, strong and fast, and weighing in at over 105kg, it's not surprising that little Peter Stringer and a few others weren't able to grab a hold of him first time.
This footage was a request, so despite not being the most devastating of action, we do try to satisfy requests where possible, and it is a small hint of what's to come from Roberts in the future, baring in mind there's a Grand Slam champions Welsh tour of World Cup Champions South Africa coming up.
I also thought a few of you would enjoy seeing Stringer put on his hindside.

If he would tackle properly like he learned in school, he could have stopped him. Hugging is not too effective specially as a numbr 9 :)Greatings from Germany

i don't know if you know the David and Goliath story ... but in a 'David and Goliath' situation the smaller one wins. Sorry to be pedantic and all but when i see those titles i expect the wee one to win.

I hate stringer. A lot. But to be fair he'd usually bring the person down or at least jump on their back and tire them down.Keith Gleeson retires today ! The world loses a great no. 7 !

Stringer is muck, a real defensive soft point. i can't remember the last time i saw him bring a man down when the two are one on one. he should never get near an Irish jersey again.

ah he's not massive or anything but he puts his whole body on the line when tackling and I respect that.Remember in 2004 at Twickenham that tackle against Moody i think it was ? Sure he's better at tackling than Geordan Murphy at any rate :P

Jamie Roberts is looking to be a great future wales winger.. Full back position is out of contention with stodart and byrne around!

yeah i def think he'll be out of contention for fullback, what with both Byrne and Stoddard lookin good.big strong guy, little guys like williams are great wingers, but its always nice to have a man of that size and speed on the wing ;)

why do i keep hearing about how crap peter stringer is in defense?last i heard he was famous for being able to almost tap tackle guys about twice his size. don't get me wring though i hate him ;P should of gone low pete!

I'd hardly describe Stringer as cocky. He is a very professional player. He hasn't had a great season though, hopefully O' Leary will act as a wake up call for him.

This is pathetic. People from other countries pretending they're from Limerick slagging off Stringer. Doesn't matter anyway, we're in the Heineken Cup final, whatever team you support isn't. Liam don't rise to them, they're just a bunch of jealous pricks.

yes being able to tap tackle is a handy skill to have and he is quite good at that but, 1 it doesn't matter what size the person is for a tap tackle, the technique is the same regardless of if you're tackling Shane Williams or Shane Horgan and 2 the only situation in which you need to tap tackle is when your first line of defence is breached, which should not happen. Peter Stringer is the cause of so many of these defensive breaches because he fucking always stands too close into rucks and gets involved in one on one tackling situations with massive forwards who just steamroll over him because he's a midget who can't tackle properly.

If I can remember correctly there is a video here from Ireland's summer tour to NZ where Stringer gets steamrolled by Ma'a Nonu which is quite funny too!But its a pity that the Munster v Sarries highlights left out the hit O'Leary put on Neil de Cock, in fact he got nailed several times and it wasn't shown!I cant understand the abuse O'Leary is getting ffs he's been sidelined the last 3 years by Kidney and now thron in the deep end so what do ya expect?!? He's always tried his best and seems to be much stronger in both defense and attack than Stringer.

These boards are moderated strictly, and the more immature, politically motivated, cursing, and insulting comments that are posted here, the less time I have to post quality rugby clips. I think it's a disgrace that there are "Stringer haters" and stuff like that like he is not a cocky player at all, if anything he's modest and nothing but a consummate professional.He's not a good defender, fair enough, but it's not like he claims to be. He's been picked because he's had the best pass in world rugby and because he gives it everything he's got.To those of you who are Stringer Haters, I hope ye enjoyed his amazing try to win the European Cup and his numerous tap tackles that have saved us on many occasions. Those clips are what should be put on rugbydump because as he reaches the end of a dazzling career, those moments are what will make him go down in history as a Munster and Ireland legend.

He has a good pass but that is all he has. he is not now and never will be considered an Irish legend, whatever about Munster. just because he "give everything you've got" that doesn't mean he should be considered a legend. everyone who puts on an Irish shirt gives everything they've got, the way you get to be a legend is by having some talent which stringer is quite blatantly lacking. his game is so bloody one dimensional which you can't have in a scrum half these days. if he ever found himself with the ball in open space he'd probably shit his cacks. and would people stop going on about his tap tackles. i would find them alot more impressive if he'd get his fucking fundamentals right first. god bless Eoin Reddan and Tomas o Leary, at last we've a couple of decent scrum halves to select from.

To the comment above.....why can you slag him off but the guy above you can't praise him?!Stringer is obviously a good player, you know strangely enough if he turned up at your local rugby club and offered to play for absolutely no money im pretty sure you'd pick him, im pretty sure a lot of teams would, what he lacks in defence he makes up in aggression and determination and experience.His quick dashes and unpredictability leave a lot of opposition players standing at rucks scratching their heads whilst he has just run 20yards!There are a lot of people that dont like him but still can have the balls to say he is a great player.....i never like Serge Betson, i don't know why but i never did, but i can still admit that he is an awesome flanker!

agreed Betsen was an awesome player as were Johnson and Back and they were both shits. it's not just that i don't like him, it's that he's not good. i'd hope he'd get a start for my club, he's a professional rugby player, our scrum half most definitely is not, that doesn't mean he's a world class player. he does not make quick dashes nor is he unpredictable. these are things that O'Leary and Reddan offer.

I would pick Reddin ahead of him definitely but his "good" pass is a whole lot better than Reddin or O'Leary's ever will be. I don't know what your criteria is for legendary status but surely being most capped in your position for your country, winning 3 triples crowns, scoring 6 tries for your country, winning a European Cup with a match-winning try and earning MOM in the same game constitutes legend? I don't think he shat his cacks in the open space he found himself in going around the back of Biarritz's scrum?Stringer's not the greatest scrumhalf in the world but he has been the best Irish scrumhalf for almost a decade.I know people go on about the tap tackles which is not right but at the same time, during those matches you cannot say you did not feel a huge relief as an Irish fan as Robinson and the likes miraculously fell before the try line?!!

if you watch the video of stringer's ankle tap on dan luger you'll see he misses the tackle at halfway and has to chase him back. when he makes the tackle in the end luger is well inside the 22

a 12 year old could do what stringer does, pass the ball, thats the only thing hes good at, he cant beat a player or tackle, eoin reddan is irelands outright number 1 scrum half
