Tom Varndell late winning try for Leicester gets them into the Semis
Leicester secured their place in the play-offs with a bonus-point win after winger Tom Varndell scored with just two minutes remaining, which settled the game and also ended Harlequins' own play-off hopes.
The flying winger made a try out of nothing, chipping the ball past Quins full-back Mike Brown before putting on the afterburners and winning the chase to the ball from 40 metres out.
Sale's defeat at home to London Irish saw the Tigers clinch fourth spot and set up a semi-final clash with table-toppers Gloucester.

it would be a shame for a great club like leicester not to make europe. heartbreaker for the quins though, they have the consolation of nick evans next season - what a guy

varndell is quality, v unlucky not to be going to NZ but hopefully he can show off the Churchill Cup!Any chance of getting some better footage, or is this all the wonderful Sky Sports have to offer - there were some amazing tries in this game

I love Leicester, and Varndell is a freak (in the good sense of the word).His problem is he's defensively weak, and sometimes his positioning and reading of the game is well below standard (quite bizarre for a professional athlete, who has all day to work on his weaknesses). All Leicester wings seem to have this problem, actually (Tuilagi, Varndell and Rabeni; BUT they are athletic monsters).I understand why Varndell is not in the squad to tour New Zealand, but he should be in the full England squad, to work on his weaknesses. He is a proven matchwinner, and can turn a game around on his own.

...i hate leicester so much. Probably cos they're such a good side yes...but i was distraught when i found out they made it through. :(

sander, have to disagree with you there, i've watched most of leicesters home games this season and a fair few away games, and his defence is vastly improved. I've not seen him miss a tackle this season, and his positional play is far better now - loffreda seems to have taught him how to maintain his concentration now for the full 80 minutes. Admittedly in previous season he WAS a liability, but he has worked really hard on his weaknesses. In my opinion he will be 1st choice wing come Autumn internationals.

haha! i love during the interview when he's answering the question...you can see he forgets the question and starts saying rugby cliches... the guy asks him if he's scored a more important try...and he goes on about it's a team, that's going well and to get into the cup...

This guy is ace...he has so much potential and is a try scorring maniac with some of the most rapid legs in the rugby world..people truly underestimate how amazing this guy is..sure his tacklings not amazing but its improving loads and he dosent stop scoring and thats what all teams need Will
