Heineken Cup Final Preview - Toulouse vs Munster

Heineken Cup Final Preview - Toulouse vs Munster

Toulouse and Munster, the two heavyweights of European rugby, go head to head today in a clash of the titans as they meet in Cardiff for the Heineken Cup Final.

The brawn of Munster meets the flair of Toulouse as both side's look to add to their already glistening trophy cabinets at a sold-out Millennium Stadium on Saturday.

Declan Kidney, in his last game as Munster's head coach, has kept faith with the same starting XV that secured the semi-final win over Saracens.

Donncha O'Callaghan gets the nod ahead of Mick O'Driscoll in the second row, and he partners captain Paul O'Connell. Behind the pack the impressive Rua Tipoki continues his partnership with Lifeimi Mafi.

Toulouse head coach Guy Novs has selected Jean-Baptiste Elissalde at fly-half, and he partners former All Black Byron Kelleher at half-back.

Maxime Medard and Yves Donguy line up on the wings, neither of whom have ever played in a final, let alone a Heineken Cup final. However with Cdric Heymans at full-back they will have plenty of guidance and support in attack.

It promises to be a classic that brings us more of the great European rugby action we've seen all season. Predictions anyone?

Portugal have a huge potential for sevens but we don't have the best coaches

it'll be toulose by 5 in the final i reckon , they just have that x factor that'll kill muster if they play with that french flair , but munster will probably keep in the game with one or two tries and some penalties from o'gara

great vid, great site! I haven't been up for a match so much since ire vs nz 1st test 2006 (england v ireland 2007 excluded, that match was just too big to compare with) i got money on for a draw after 80 mins(18/1), but munster will sneak it in the end. it's gonna be epic!

Congrats to Munster but damn it, how boring!!! I think I saw the longest pick'n'go session ever during this game. The reds started it 20 minutes before the end. Something really needs to be done to avoid that boring thing in the future. Modern rugby should not be like that...

Shame on you Munster, you played sooooooooooooo boring rugby! This is sad for rugby to see this type of team winning the H cup... Too bad...An angry and frustrated french supporter

Well we won it by playing to our strengths, can you think of any team that would purposefully stray from thier main source of power? It might be boring to other people but to me I find it very exciting.

How can u complain about the way Munster played?? They are out to win not put on a display of running rugby. If it was Toulouse how did it you would commend them for their professionalism. Munster did what they had to do to win, for every Munster and Toulouse supporter with any real passion for the game, the final 10 or 15 mins were nerve racking.

There was absolutely NOTHING boring about that . . . .it might be boring to someone who didnt support either of the teams and didnt care about/realise the significance of it . . . .but if you were a Munster supporter, those last 15 or so minutes - hanging on to a 3 point lead was as exciting as it gets. If you were about to win the biggest final of the year, why would you risk it all by not sticking to your strengths!? Thats madness . . . ye do what ye gotta do!C'MON MUNSTERRRRRRRRR!!!!
