Ireland beat the Barbarians - All the tries
It wasn't the greatest performance seen by Ireland or the traditional Barbarians, but served up a few nice tries, most notably by Tommy Bowe and Shane Horgan.
The Baa Baa's looked predictably out of sorts and disjointed, and as the commentator quipped, perhaps had a bit too much of a Belgian beer hangover after their match there on the weekend.
Ireland scored 24 points in the first 23 minutes, and that was about the most exciting part of the game bar one or two moments of brilliance from a young backline that at times showed glimpses of real quality.
Ireland came out easily on top in the end, despite some spirited play by the Barbarians. The final score in this one, 39-14 to the Irish.

haha! i laughed alot when the commentator said "he's possibly the quickest man on the field" 2:36! and then he gets smoked!!! ka-pow! anesi! good highlights

Some good young talent in that Irish team. We really need to look to the future now and bring people like Fitzgerald and Kearney into the senior squad properly. All we need now is a new fly half and a couple of front rows and we'll be grand for the future - Bob Casey the legend

I was at this game, and its wasn't what people are making it out to be.I know it wasn't a full-strength Ireland team, but they did struggle to beat the BaaBaas who have only had 1,2 training sessions together? A couple of good tries from the men in green, but I was very dissapointed that they chose to kick penalties at goal.Isn't the whole point of a BaaBaas game is to run it and try different things? Or did beating a very disorganised BaaBas team mean that much to the Irish?

I agree 100% with Fridge regarding the spirit of Barbarians encounters. Let's not forget, Barbarians game are NOT like British Lions or World 15 (albeit rare) games. Barbarians encounters have, and always should, be about that Baa Baa's spirit. Run the ball at all costs. A loss to the Barbarians isn't really a big deal anyway, so why not play it in the correct spirit and just have a run? I'm not having a go at the Irish directly, just saying, in this age of professionalism, we mustn't forget the old traditions of this extraordinary invitational rugby team. Let's hope England can put on a display on the weekend. :)

don't know what game you were watching fridge but i wouldn't call putting fourty points on them struggling. they kicked two penalties all game, one when they were a man down and one when the game was still a contest. maybe it's not in the spirit of the game but fuck it, we've had a hard year and neeeded a win. and there was a good bit of play in that match that wasn't in the spirit of the barbarians but there you go.

It's hard to see from this replay, but the second try should've been disallowed.Regardless of whether a proper line out had formed (there were an awful lot of players nearby), the fact is that one of the technical staff on the touchline kicked the ball towards the Ireland player who then threw in. Should've been called back for a proper line out.

Its for the Barbarians to throw it around, that was a very developmental Ireland side and they had to show all facets of the game not just passing it around....especially if you saw Bowe (or Duffy?) attempting a Spencer through-the-legs pass.I thought casey was very disappointing but Heaslip and Jennings as well as Fitzgerald, Kearney did really well. Best and Sexton should've come on earlier. Felt sorry for Wallace he's a great passer and makes good runs but he'd clearly be better at centre. His defence and kicking aren't bad either.

well done to ireland, nice to see them playing well againbut i have to say if they played the barbarians side that beat the boks last year, they would probably have been shown up

belgium played really entertaining against the Baabaas and I had a great time at the stadiumBaabaas partied too hard in brussels (nice chaps but utterly crazy when drunk) and I don't think they were feeling good against Ireland lol

well sharky England did not put in a performance, in fact they looked a shambles. now how is it that ireland put so many more points on much the same barbarians side? Interesting that England kicked two penalties as well: for shame

I dont mean to pick on the poor guy but Gavin Duffy is at fault for both the baba's tries. He missed tackles all night!!

You cant fault the irirsh for anythingFair enough they kicked 2 penalties but they ran the Baa Baas raggedRunning the ball from deepInterception on their own lineStephen FerrisMalcolm O KellyAND Tom Court ALL forwards running the ball 30-40 yards each
