Welcome to the game David Skrela - Vosloo hit

Welcome to the game David Skrela - Vosloo hit

With ten minutes left in the Top 14 game against Castres on the weekend, Stade Francais replacement David Skrela came on after a three month injury layoff, replacing starting flyhalf Lionel Beauxis.

Skrela had literally been on the field less than a minute before getting his first touch, a clearing kick, when Castres flanker Vosloo welcomed him to the game in his own special way.

The big hit earned Vosloo a yellow card, despite him trying to look as innocent as possible after mistiming the challenge, and instead of pulling out of it, just followed through. He did make an attempt to wrap his arms though, so it's one of those that could go either way. The ref felt the only way it was going was to the sin bin, so off the abrasive Vosloo went.

Fair play to Skrela though, who got up pretty quickly and walked away.

Note: Thanks for the prompt translations guys.

Bullshit that was a card. He was comitted before Skrela kicked it, and he wrapped him with the arms. Any decent flanker would do that to a ten, especially if he'd just come on.

I dunno what else had happened before (re Vosloo's behavior) but I think a card for that tackle is harsh. It had arms and it wasn't high; although he could have pulled out. The scuffle afterwards is probably what persuaded the ref.

I admire Skrela for that, he's a good, solid player who doesnt get involved in any nonsense.I don't know if it was a card though, probably just a Volsoo laying down a marker lol

nah it's pretty late and he looked like he went through on him intentionally. Tis worthy of a yellow in my book

When you make late hits like this you need to grab the other player and try and stop them falling over. That way you can smash them but it still looks ok LoL

NIce to see Remy Martin back in a Stade shirt. One of those world class flankers like Nyanga who seems to have been totally ignored by Lievremont.

Shouldnt you try to charge down, rather than just hit the kicker as hard as possible (which is in most of the cases late anyways!)?yellow card! Stupid guyGreetings from Munich

It's a yellow - he knew what he was doing. Not quite as viscious as the kick that Pelous gave for a yellow in the H Cup ;-)

In my opinion, it's almost ALWAYs a yellow for hitting any kickers of the ball, your almost always better off trying to charge down a kick than tackling, unless you CAN get them before they kick...

If you look closely at the scrum, you can see that he is trying to get out earlier to anticipate on Fillol's pass to Skrela. The ref shouts 2 times "Li", which orders him to stay in the scrum. So the yellow card is also given because if he'd listened and obeyed the ref, he couldn't have made that stupid hit.Cheers

It's not the first time Vosloo make this kind of late tackle. Against Toulouse 2 times (1 in the away match , 1 in the home match) and 1 or 2 over time.He take a yellow card 1 time to 2 tackle. Average 50%Next year he would be elected for french team (3 years in French championship). France will invented rugby at 14...

I <3 Stade Francais, their kit is great, and I respect David Skrela. I don't condone stupid, macho, unnecessary hits either. But man it was funny to see his pink shorts bum up and drilled into the pitch =p
