I realize people are going to get all defensive of Argentina, but I'm going to say it anyway: Why is it that I only ever see Argentina players immediately appealing to the refs (I'm only talking about nationals here, not pro teams)? Is it some sort of rub-off from their footballers, or what?

Illegal is not instant grounds for a yellow - for a start the initial hit was low and then pushed up which is in the grounds of accidental. Yellow for that and you wouldnt ever finish a game with 15 players! Good hit.

It was not a "HIGH" tackle. It was below his shoulders and full attempt to bind the arms. This was a great hit. Text book man and ball; "hit the chest no chance of an off load" those of you who think it's high please consult your rule book.

Bill i totally agree with you, there was times throughout the game where i was pulling my hair out due to argentinian backchat etc, i've never seen anything like it in my life.

OK, a couple of things: first of all, that was a terrible high tackle, definitely illegall, altough very espectacular...second: I keep reading comments about football and Argentina fans or even about the players, are you trying to feel superior bringing that kind of things up ?Scotland deserved to win, they played with intelligence and took advantage of Argentina's mistakes and penalties ( specially penalties ), that doesn't make them better, compare the number of games they won the last years with the number of games Argentina won, as I see it, it was just a bad day for the Pumas, nothing else...And about the hit again, If it was a Pumas player doing it, you were all talking trash about him and saying it was a football thing and all kinds of crap...Altough I must admit: I loved to see Aramburu smashed down like that, he's the worse player of the pumas by far and doesn't deserve to be there...cheers to scots, congrats

Yeah guys give the Argentinian and French bashing a rest already. It's getting old, and just because we're speaking English on here, it doesn't mean they don't understand or visit RD less than you do. Nice to build a friendly/community feel here, rather than that of hostility from childish comments. Spectacular hit for sure, I loved it, but I'd say if that were a South African or Samoan hit, there would be at least yellow card and a massive hoohaa about it. Yes, I said hoohaa.

1. Fucking awesome hit. It's so fats that expecting the officials to make a valid call on it is impossible, however when it's slowed down it's pretty obvious that it's top of the chest, not neck. 2. I find it pretty depressing that it is now seen as 'historic' when Scotland beat Argentina (who I know are a great team, but ten years ago Scotland fans would have been gutted by this result).3. Noone's given us an excuse yet for the Argies behaving like fottballers...

He's an honest player at the end of the day and the ref probably realises that. If he was a constant offender (I'm thinking Bergamasco) then ref more likely to dish out a card.Anyway obviously open to debate if legal or not. I'm not into that however I do remember the 1st game of the world cup when a French player committed an offence and the Argie fly half was straight up to ref waving an imaginary card trying to get him yellow or red. I agree with hamish, I found it a bit depressing to see the words "historic" too. Its also not really accurate as the match before was very close, so the win wasn't really a surprise. I think Scotland are still potentially capable of beating any team in the world, they need better coaches tho! It hard supporting Scotland, they get no respect and whenever they beat a big team it is said to be just lucky. Scotland has a great rugby history, we just lack players and teams and fans and money. All the things which are really nessesary in the professional era. But we still love our rugby and we still play with as much passion as anyone!

What we lack are centres. When was the last time that Scottish centres set the pitch on fire? I've been following scotland for fifteen years or so now, and I can't think of many. At the moment Webster's our best option, but he's just too small to play in the centres.

It wasn't a good tackle. Anybody can make a high tackle and make it look good, it doesn't show tackling ability in any way at all. To be honest it's shameful he got away with only a penalty! As far as i can see it's a no more than a cheapshot.

I think he hit him right in the chest, legally! his momentum made him slip upwards, along with the player falling backwards which made it look high. Still..should have hit him a few inches lower imo.p.s. simon webster isn't THAT small, he is over 6foot tall and over 14stone. which is not a small man, its not like he's a little welsh winger lol
