Clermont tackles compilation video

Clermont tackles compilation video

As we all know, tackling is a hugely important element to a successful rugby player, and of course, to a team. We've always maintained a large focus on hits and tackles here on RD, so this video fits in with that nicely.

The compilation itself comes from the official Clermont Auvergne website and features three minutes of textbook, solid hits that are pretty much a great example of the correct way to make tackles in rugby.

There are of course a few big, spectacular looking moments, but all in all, it features a whole load of great defence, with some solid driving tackles from the forwards in the tight exchanges.

It's a good find by a forum user, and well worth watching. Thanks to that user, and of course the Clermont website that put it together.

Nice videos, but they should also do a video with alls the tackles missed by James!

Great, this is the kind of video that should be on this site, not crap like the "intense rugby compilation" which focused on foul play.

Clermont, Munster and Toulouse are the best teams in Europe.

good defence but if the attack stands a bit deeper and manages to get a wide pass out to the backs then the defence is in trouble.

Clermont play good rugby and they deserve a "crap" tackle video like this. Rugby is both attacking and defense ya know...

What a job done by both Julien Bonnaire (usually n6, wearing a white srumcap) ans Aurlien Rougerie...

Whilst dump tackles look good and make for flashy compilations these kind of tackles are much more effective as can be seen by the number of turnovers evinced by Clermont in the video. I would much rather have a team that makes these kind of hits than blokes who spear tackle.Excellent video rugbydump, I for one could watch more of these 'educational' style videos.

Someone should do a similar version of the Allblacks. I think the ABs defense in 1 game alone could take up a 40min.

there should be more big tackles coming from Clermont soon as hard hitter Scotland internationalist Jason White is joining them.

Amazing to see majority of those tackles being made by second rows. I know in this day and age locks are far more mobile and make tackles rather than trucking it up but was class to see.Cheers RD

Anyone who said this video was boring or crap are obviously fairies who dont play rugby and dont appreciate the game as a wholeIf they do play rugby and found this boring they are obviously chicken shits who arent prepared to put their bodies on the line and therefore let every one else in the team do the tackling!Which, in my opinion, is unforgivableGreat Video!anyone know the song?

Something I've noticed about NH supporters is their strange attitude to fighting and tough tackling, like it's terrible when a player gets smashed. I blame the nefarious influence of soccer for their soft, girlish views. 'dump tackles' (a term I've never heard before, but I know what the person is refering to) are awesome, any kind of crunching hit is awesome. Spear tackles are completely different, it's when a player goes beyond the horizontal and they are then in danger of serious spinal or neck damage. Obviously that can't be tolerated, but equally it will continue to happen occaisonaly. Anyone who's played knows that far from being a cynical attempt to seriously injure a player, spear tackles almost always happen by accident. It's quite easy to tip a player too far once he's lost his feet and can't stop the momentum of a hit. Bad, but 90% of the time it's an accident, just like head high tackles. The pontificating from NH supporters makes the bile rise up in my throat."we don't want to see foul play, fights, big hits or anyone get their finger nails broken"Give me a break! Go watch table tennis or something.

NH-hating Anonymous above - put a name on your post, especially if you're going to slag off a huge amount of people before you engage your brain.

Last anonymous, you're a twat. What we don't like in NH is dirty play that brings nothing to the game and gives a bad example to the kids. Nobody ever complained about a solid tackle as long as it is legal.Calling us girlish is a proof that you have never watched a Top 14 or H Cup game. Fights are just stupid though, and being in France at the moment with all those massive fights in Top 14 and Pro D2, I can tell you the NH guys also know how to do it.

Thats a pretty solid collection and it should get better with white on the way. It was great to see Munster, espeically O'Gara under a bit of pressure.

That's all I want to hear Alex. Big hits are awesome, fights are fun, shoulder charges should be legal and there's nothing more satisfying on a rugby pitch then smashing the crap out of an opposition player.None of this sanitised, 'rugby is about the skills', 'let's not break a nail' bullcrap.Bring back the biff! And the name's Jon, it's not like I'm hiding behind the anonymous thing, I just can't be arsed signing up.
