Best tries of the Heineken Cup - Round 6

Best tries of the Heineken Cup - Round 6

The final round of group action took place in the Heineken Cup this past weekend, with the Quarter Final match ups now having been drawn.

Weve got a neat little video for you, showing all the best tries from the action in this most exciting of European rugby competitions.

It was a tense few days as results were determined right down till the last minutes of play, but now we all know who progresses, and who plays who.

The draw has been made and there is the possibility of both semi-finals being played at Wales' Millennium Stadium after top seeds Cardiff Blues and Munster emerged as favourites to be allowed to choose where they play those matches.

We look forward to an exciting next round of action as we see Cardiff take on Toulouse, Munster play the Ospreys, Halequins and Leinster battle it out, and Leicester take on Bath in an all English clash.

Its been a great tournament so far with some fantastic tries. Here are some of the best from Round 6.

Some beaut lineout play from Ulster(?!) there. Can't belive how poor wasps are this season- and how many of their players are in the EPS- johnson needs to start picking on form not club or reputation.

One of the best ever HC's this year though, most games have been so good that some of my kissballing mates have started to enjoy watching rugby!

FAO jdizzle, johnson did pick on form when he named the eps before this season had begun as many of wasps players were on fire last season. now he can only make so many changes to the squad throughout the season. you may have noticed that no wasps players have been drafted into the squad but the on form players have

also doesnt help wasps that their coaches have their minds on other things - wales and lions

I bloody knew it, whenever one of these comps come up there's always someone from the Southern Hemisphere saying something like 'load of rubbish my granny could have scored most of those tries, down here in New Zealand we play proper rugby and eat whole cows for breakfast'. Can you not just leave it and celebrate rugby rather than just your own brand? And I tell you what jamestheconvict, if Super 14 is so superior why is it struggling to attract audiences and Heinekin Cup/Guiness Premiership going from strength to strength? Ever wondered WHY there are so many Kiwis playing in Europe? Either enjoy the great service that RD provides or keep it to yourself.

Hey Will66 whats the population up north ? Could that have anything to do with big crowds ? and a flow on effect of big money - equals players who want big money.Big crowds - does not make a good rugby competition. The Hyundai A League - in Australia - new soccer comp gets big crowds - and even i wouldn't try and pretend its a good comp.I'm from Australia too buddy - hence the convict reference. u know i just do it to stir you but you did ask me to answer your question - so there you go !! I love RD - just dont think some of the stuff on here is good - i know its a tough job - but the chance is there for RD to be the best portal around. Scott Quinnel cross bar challenge - doesn't interest me. Nor does twaddling, fat, slow English forwards. Have you ever played Rugby Will66 ?

Jamestheconvict has got you there Will66its fairly obvious that Europe/Great Britain has not only millions more poeple collectively but has currencies that are stronger too - meaning even small contracts are worth almost double to anyone from Aus/NZ - if you get a contract in Europe and your south African - your like an instant millionaire back home

the number 12 who scores that try for stade francias, is that mark gasnier? cause if it is good on him.

it was Gasnier

Well seeing as we've got more people and more rugby fans, you'll have to put up with stuff you don't like jamestheconvict. As far as I'm concerned this is an entertaining comp and I like watching the crossbar challenge too.You don't like it, start up your own website where you can just post Super 14 tries being scored in front of half empty stadiums. And of course I play rugby.

I am a Japie living near Dunedin, NZ. Carisbrook is not even half full for Super 14 matches, for the rugby is droll and boring. In contrast the Heineken Cup is great, exciting and highly entertaining to watch.Pieter

nice one pieter - or is that anonymousand where oh where do you watch all this rugby ???? your in Dunedin - there are tv's there ?Dude - its home to the worst performing NZ side of the S14 - ever - what do you expect ?

jamesthevengefulconv January 30, 2009 11:31 am

Will66 - the point of my argument was that the tries are averageexcept Gasnier - nice pick up Anonymous - or is that Pieter again - or some other random - anyway - who cares !! its not a good comp dude regardless of the crowd turnout / or corresponding dollars swirling aroundanyway - have fun Will66 - better ask mummy if you can look at RD again before u go to bed to get this post !!

How shall we judge it then james? You don't want to judge it on the money the competition creates, the crowd who attends or the vast majority of the people who watch the games (this year's competition is universally acknowledged to be the best one yet). Let's just base it on your opinion eh?

Billybob January 30, 2009 8:28 pm

james why knock a great competition??Super 14 & heinieken cup rugby are both good so why act like a tit trying to pick flaws?

I played all my rugby in NZ and now watch it from wherever I am and love a good contest and plenty of skill .. and there's lots to enjoy in the HC from what I can see. This "nyah nyah my comp is better than yours" stuff is really childish and doesn't sound like a rugby lover's attitude, just a narrow-minded jerk's.
