Super 14 Pick of the Week - Round 4

Super 14 Pick of the Week - Round 4

It was another exciting weeks action in the Super 14 as we saw some impressive performances from a few of the travelling sides, as well as one or two standout excellent tries.

First up we have the Chiefs vs the Force and the lighting quick Leilia Masaga scoring a fantastic try early in the match, after some speedy shifting of the ball out wide.

In the same match, Brendon Leonard and Richard Kahui crossed for nice tries as we saw the Chiefs run the ball freely.

The Cheetahs went down to the Hurricanes in Wellington, but managed to create a nice try for big flanker Wayne Van Heerden.

The Sharks are looking like one of the teams to beat this season, and will look to pick up a third away win on the trot when they face the Reds this weekend. The Bok trio of Ndungane, Jacobs, and Pieterson combined for their excellent breakaway try against the Blues in Auckland.

Isaiah Toeava crossed for the Blues in the same match, and then we finish with Stormers hooker Deon Fourie showing some excellent acceleration to score a try a center would be proud of.

Just so it doesn't happen let's just state what people are going to say:SH - our backs are brilliant.NH - rubbish defence. Now that is done can we just simply enjoy the clip for what it is - beautifully worked rugby?

Masaga is from New Zealand, Counties Manukau. Like any gifted sprinter, as a winger, he's still quite poor in defence. But he has youth on his side and still made it as last seasons super 14 top try scorer. Great to see him doing well again.

Some very suspect defence from the force there, dunno how many missed tackles. Still, some very fine tries.@will66: AFAIK, Masaga is a Kiwi

Some of the defence in those clips is just terrible. Missed tackles everywhere! Still some good tries though...

Yes. Don't want t start again a NH-SH speech. But true some defense are really bad.Anyway, as I'm from France, can someone explain me why so many players fight for the ball in the ruck?Is that because of the new rules? New way of playing coming from Super 14?

yep some good tries but jeez some of the tackling is dreadfull!! What would be great to see is a match up between say the heineken cup winners and super 14 winners similar to what league does. would be a fantastic spectacle. Has it ever happened before??

Yes it has already happened when Brive won the H cup in 97. They played the Blues some time later and lost at home 47-11.At this time the french and european rugby was almost amateur game. Top 12 nations were really ahead at this time. But sure a world club championship would be great.

And I remember the game : the score should have benn closer to 100 - 11 than 47-11...At this time SH teams were in another world, untouchable for us. And it was great enjoyment to watch this super 12.

Yes these are broken/missed tackles and that's why these are highlights. Its an 80 minute game and its 3 minutes of clips.

can we see the penalty-try that wasn't given for the Blues? Sharks deserved the win but that ref just fizzled my shizzle

Wow super 14 is looking awesome, some great tries in there RD. And what an awesome song to put on the video, i'm off to see oasis this year hopefully! and no matter what video comes on here it always seems someone is trying to argue who is better SH or NH, ok being competitive is one thing.. some people need to support good rugby, because at the end of the day your all fans of the great game. Well done to all super 14 teams they are playing good rugby! Now bring on wales vs italy.. happy days..

rubbish tackling. if the guy is there and got hold of the ball carrier he should go down no matter how big he is. That basically means poor defence no great attacking.
