Wales beat Argentina to win the IRB Sevens World Cup in Dubai
On a day of major shocks, the 80-1 outsiders knocked out New Zealand and Samoa to reach their first ever final.
The young squad, who have only been together two years, can now add their names to the list of English, New Zealand, and Fijian stars who have won the World Cup in this shortened version of the game.
The Welsh, who lost to Argentina in the pool stages, opened a 12-7 half-time lead with tries from Richie Pugh and Tal Selley before the Pumas drew level. But Aled Thomas flew down the wing to seal the victory for Wales with the decisive try.
The tournamentitself was a roaring success as it lived up to the sports unpredictable reputation, with upsets and surprises at every turn.
With Olympic committee delegates there for the weekend, there is no doubt that the event went a long way towards convincing them that Sevens should regain it's rightful place in the Olympics.

It's good to see passion from the commentators but they should really try to be neutral.Great video though - I've been looking forward to it. Thanks RD

Brilliant to see Wales win, for a nation with such a rich history of free-running rugby it is long overdue! Hopefully the beginning of lots more to come - including a 6 Nations Championship :).

That stupid welsh commentator ruined that video for me... poor form and poor sportsmanship in one of the great sports spectacles in our world. What a shame. Fantastic tourney, however - can't wait for the next one.

my congratulation to the pumas, who have once again shown that they are up to the level of the best teams of the world. all of the 12 players are amateurs and they really show how much they love their country.congratulations to wales as well.

They had a Welsh commentator to be sure that they'd have a neutral commentator in the final....Wales were 100-1 with some bookies.Congratulations to them, incredible wins. They'll never get the credit they deserve for this, but surely we can give it to them from RD?Jamestheconvict....go on, say something nice....i dare you....

the BRITISH commentators were supporting the british team in the final and they gave argentina respect, you have to in sevens they are a great team. when arg. scored the commentator gave them the credit they deserved. but wales beat them on the day.

sevens doesn't need to be in the olympics i feel, it has its own tornaments , just like olympic football, Euro and world cup are much greater prizes than gold medals.

Shane's already done Sevens, when he fell out of favour under Steve Hansen in 2001. He sent him out with the Sevens team.

Great tournament for BOTH TEAMS. Argentina demostrated that's on a great form by this on with the San Diego sevens, as well as Wales. But the commentators were impartial and I, argentian, believe that ALL commentators are a bit unpartial when it's an internatinal match, don't you think?

It's taken very seriously as a development tool by most of the top nations. There was debate on South African TV to fire the coach after being knocked out when they did and NZ take pride in their 7s team also.Get a grip sourpuss.
