British & Irish Lions vs Bay of Plenty in 2005
Both sides had fairly little time to prepare ahead of the match, and the first half was a mixed affair as each team dominated in patches.
The Lions stormed to a 17 point lead with two tries from Josh Lewsey, and one from Mark Cueoto before relaxing a bit, letting the home side back into the game.
Tries from Colin Bourke and Murray Williams contributed to the scores being tied at the halftime break.
In the second half the Lions came out looking more structured, and sealed the match by scoring three tries, through Dwayne Peel, Tom Shanklin, and Gordon Darcy.
The low point of the match came when Lawrence Dallaglio broke his ankle, ruling him out of the rest of the tour.
The final score of 34-20 was a satisfactory result for the tourists, but there were early warning signs that all was not right, resulting in a tough tour to come.

He picked on 2003 form and bias to England players.
Mind you, I think it would have been 3-0 no matter who managed or pciked the team. However,, it might have been closer.

lions couldn't win against AB's in 2005. NZ was too strong and too quick.
and don't talk about BOD injury, it wouldn't have changed anything

Carter, Umaga, Marshall, McCaw the list is endless.

Just like I would be bummed if Burger got hurt for this series...even though I am a Lions fan.

It was aking to the off the ball assualt on Dalton that broke his jaw during the Cavaliers tourr to SA in 1986. It was a hit.

lets hope we do not have any incidents like that in this series.

The Lions' backs moved the ball nicely and scored some wonderful tries.
Dallaglio's injury cost the Lions' chances - long term - far more than O'Driscoll's.
The Lions' supporters were absolutely BRILLIANT for the whole tour. A pleasure to host.

And the UK sports press is the epitome of reason and good taste, I'm trying to keep a straight face.
But kiwi is right, the tour was a mess but the supporters were terrific. I hope they get plenty to cheer about in SA.

however, the lions lost dallaglio and o'driscoll. how do you think the ab's would have been without mccaw and umaga? its an interesting thought.
and to echo an above post the nathan gray elbow on hill was ridiculous. that was more decisive in who won the tour than the spear on BO'D yet you dont hear about it much. second test completely changed once hill had gone off

You forget how good some of the old boys like Lewsey and Hill were when on form.
Looking at that first try it's still O'Gara's inability to tackle that Might be a clincher for this tour. All that said about Wilkinson you know he's a safe 10 to have.
No Alistair Campbell this tour, so it's already off to a better start.
