The School of Hard Knocks - Episode 6

The School of Hard Knocks is nearing its conclusion as the group of troubled youths from North Wales go about finding their way around the rugby pitch, and everything that goes with it.
In this episode the boys get to go on an awesome assault course which proves a great experience for all, despite one player clearly having a bad hangover.
Theyre then let down as a group though as drinking before training takes its toll, resulting in an arduous fitness session, and punishment for one of the culprits.
One of the more unpopular characters, Ben, returns after his injury and joins the side as theyre taken to play a training match against a Liverpool university side.
Its the boys first match as a unit and taking all into account, they perform admirably, even if they did require the services of one of two former Lions players.
This is the second last episode before the big final, which features the climax of their season. Well get that full episode up for you shortly.

Beer before a game or training is not advisable. Been there, done that.. puked on the t-shirt.

Well played to the lads for keeping the scoreboard respectable.
I remember my colleges first game where we lost by 30-40 points.

And some people cant help the way they are, its not 100% dependant on their background but it doesent help if you grow up in a bad area.

I have alot of personal experience with them, I was bottled by one in a nightclub last month after he licked my bros gfs neck and I told him where to go. But I also know alot more perfectly nice, decent and hardworking "chavs" who have found there way in life without any assistance for the government or the bank of mummy and daddy!
Jeff..I dont like to pre-judge people but you sound like a pompous prick. Get a grip and a reality check.

Let's be clear - there's a world of difference between a normal working class person and a chav. As you've put it, a "hardworking/nice/decent chav" is an oxymoron. Chavs, by definition, are not hardworking - why work when you can knock up some girl at 15 and spend the rest of your adult life bleeding benefits off the state. The old British working class has been split into a working/middle class and a new rapdily expanding underclass for which the normal rules of civilised society don't apply.
Clearly, a hard-line approach is not the way to go as the alternative is working wonders in Greenock. Maybe the scumbag who decided it's okay to harass your brother's girlfriend and bottle you (a euphemism for tearing up your flesh with glass) has been punished with two months of rugby training with a couple of internationals and if you're happy with that, good luck to you but don't expect Greenock to become a nicer place to live anytime soon...

Last time i looked this is a site about rugby so can we keep it that way?
It was good to see them communicating after that try. The prop calling callum over to prevent the overlap. Callum just wasnt listening but he didnt shout at him which is what you want in a team.
Scott Quinell is a monster. Very first thing he does is smash the receiver.

I actually agree with most of what ur saying about chavs, we call them neds (which I believe stands fro No Educated Delinquents), its just the way u said it that got to me.
Anyway, as this programme showed i believe, most of the boys were no different to you and me. Very few acted up but a few were "deliquent arseholes" and Im not certain how long lasting the discipline of rugby training would last on them tbh. A follow up show might be interesting.

If a few of them can change from this experience, it will be well worth it.
You can see it in their eyes after that game how much they felt that "rugby" feeling. It was good to see.
Welcome to the rugby club, guys. Keep it up, despite people on this board constantly knocking you down. You get enough of that every day.

A good start really, considering they have only played together for six one hour training sessions. Will be interesting to see what happens next week, but it seems like a tough ask. Well unless Quinnel gets stuck in again!
