Ruck 'n' Roll Years - The 2000's

Ruck 'n' Roll Years - The 2000's

The third round of this years Six Nations gets under way in Cardiff tonight, so it's probably a good time to conclude the excellent BBC series The Ruck 'n' Roll Years, as today the focus is on the last ten years of the Championship.

Music, news, and rugby combine to document the famous meeting of the great sides of the northern hemisphere. You can watch the previous two postings by clicking the related links below.

England and France contested the first few years closely, before Wales won the Grand Slam in 2005, followed by 2008. Last year, 2009, Ireland came to the party with their historic win that contributed towards a great year for Irish rugby.

Who knows what the next ten years hold, or indeed if France will win the Grand Slam this year? It's hotly contested as always, and will no doubt provide many hours of enjoyable viewing.

If you want to see which matches are coming up in this years tournament, as well as buy tickets for the matches, check out our Fixtures page where you can also find out about getting your exclusive 5% Rugbydump discount code when buying.

Whatever happened to RD removing assholes' pointless comments like the third one there? And I can't believe Ireland were so heavily beaten in so many important matches before 2006. And I can't believe England used to play seemingly expansive rugby. They desperately need to get rid of Johnson and sort their Premiership out, cos they play nothing like that now.

The first any only Irish bit in the whole 4 clips, 2009, and it leaves out the best bits of that year: the tries by both sides in the French match, the mad stuff from the Wales match. Meh.

Rugby = the new football. (without the crowds, money, women, interest)

I see more intelligent comments on football forums than what's posted here. It's a shame.

The anonymous above has an extremely good point, there is no more respect here.

i dont know whether those who are fans and rugby players are far outweighed by those that would rape anything with their countries colours on it, and support the latest winning team......i mean this site has become more popular which only means it is more known to sh*t heads as well.

I dont think englands problem lies with johnson.....

he was the backbone of their 2003 win etc etc....he knows what a good team is. like the say, a workmen is only as good as his tools.......and apparently (some of) the tools playing for england at the moment aren't very good....

I know it's by the bbc and england would get a lot of the coverage but there are so very very many matches omitted in this series that should've been included !!! Maybe the segments could've been 15 mins long?

Englan in the late 90's and early 00's were seriously amazing at times!!

Oh and to be an Irish fan back in those dark days!!!! Glad we don't get hammered as much anymore!!

An all "Jones" call is expected of Wales every once in a while, but an all "Williams" call is a bit rarer.

Found it interesting that none of the controversial events were shown -- such as Wales kicking for touch against Italy with "no time",

or Ireland going for a kick against Italy, only to lose the 6N on Point differential to France

Thanks RD for a great video.
