Midweek Madness - The Dane Haylett-Petty gift
Down by twenty points and looking to create something out of nothing, Haylett-Petty caught the missed penalty, faked to dot the ball down, then took off.
While it all looked pretty flash and he took the Reds off guard for a short while, the pressure of Anthony Faainga coming in for the big tackle seemed to put him off, resulting in the gift for Reds flanker Scott Higginbotham.
Whether it was coincidence of not, youngster Haylett-Petty was pulled from the field directly after the try was scored. Perhaps in future hell leave those sort of tricks for the Sevens circuit, where he's already proven himself to be a talented up and coming player.

I think a player at any level would have been given a blast from the coach after buggering that one up.
Pass was aweful too, not even forward out the tackle, the hit came after the ball left his hands.

The intercepted pass was a shocker, clearly, but the decision to take off from in-goal is the kind of daring play that lead to the creation of a legend...
Philippe Saint-Andre, Twickenham 1991, ring a bell?

Cooper seems to have his kicking boots on this season too. Aussies look to be building a nice team for the WC. Ireland should be worried.

I'd agree with your explanation... to the point you wrote this in the original post:
"Perhaps in future hell leave those sort of tricks for the Sevens circuit..."
That is harsh, and it definitely does not square with your claim you "love it when players have a go like that".
However, and apologies for my fundamentally argumentative nature, if the Force are willing to hand out similar presents to the Bulls and Stormers over the next two weeks, I'm not going to shed any tears for any wannabe Christian Cullen FUBARs!

RD, here's something for your Midweek Madness or Friday Funnies, or just for a good laugh:
French ProD2, Agen-Oyonnax, 28 Feb 2010 (Championship day 22), first try of the match.
Unortunately I couldn't find any clip online, but maybe you'll be luckier since it was broadcast on FR3 (French channel).

Go back and work on your basic skills son. Great work in the first 30m, but just remember not to lose the ball in contact.
Pity now teams would be more aware of this trick. Would've love to see it actually came off.

His risk didn't pay off, otherwise we would all be praising him right now.
Bad look in my - humble - opinion.
