Michael Swift great team try for Connacht against Leinster
Tries from Brian Tuohy, Troy Nathan, and this cracker from Michael Swift, helped Connacht to only their second win over Leinster since 2004.
Michael Swift scored one of the tries of the season for Connacht as they swept up field through some great handling and continuity, recycling the ball at speed and offloading before contact.
They held out the Leinster attacks for the rest of the match with a great defensive display, setting up a Heineken Cup promotion place encounter with Ulster at Ravenhill. Both sides sit at the bottom of the table with 26 points a piece.
The home crowd swamped the field at fulltime, celebrating what was a historic and inspired win over the European champions and Magners League leaders.
Incidentally, Heineken Cup semi final tickets went on sale yesterday so if youre wanting to get to the matches, you can get them through our ticketing partner Viagogo , whove kindly given all Rugbydump users a 5% discount voucher. Details below the vid.

...well, I think that it may actually be a better match than Leinster-Toulouse.

Ireland for WC 2011 April 23, 2010 11:05 pm

its not the player base that connacht lack, its the funding.munster and leinster both have about 10 times more money available, and this reason for the gulf in class.
however,if connacht make the heineken cup this year, the massive cash boost could set them on their way to being another great irish team....

always love to see a LOCK TRY!!!!!!!
(what was he doing on the wing anyway?)
Think its pretty clear that he was waiting out there to finish off one of the greatest tries ever...

This is... quite bad. A great try shouldn't include a phase, should just be fluid running rugby from point A to B, not C to D to H back to D swirl around to Z back to C and maybe to A again but maybe to point B.
Nonsense .. this is a great try by any measure, have you forgotten that it's a team game? Like many good tries it includes quick inter-passing, a couple of half-breaks, quick recycling at the breakdown before the defence gets organised .. and plenty of individual flair along the way. Your opinion that there is only one way to score a good try is a very narrow view of rugby and goes against your French nickname.

Interesting that the commentator classed a 19 year old, fresh out of school kid with less than half a dozen Leinster caps as 'an international standard winger!'
Tyical Setanta stuff!
secondfive (SH) April 24, 2010 11:51 am

He's not French, secondfive; and he just says stuff to stir shit up. He's a sad little SH kid with nothing better to do with his time (no disrespect to SH'ers in general who aren't assclowns).
No offence taken, morrisey.

Huh!! the 3rd April 24, 2010 2:06 pm

1. Win the Challenge Cup.
2. Finish above Ulster or
3. If either Munster or Leinster win HCup, all 4 provinces will be in next saeson.
But surely, if Connacht finish above Scarlets (very likely unless Scarlets throttle them Sunday, Connacht 26, Scarlets 23) they will gain a place at Scarlets' expense. Why should the Welsh regions, who don't attract crowds, have a team more than Ireland when, whatever your country, you can't deny what the Irish provinces have done for the competition.
Come on Connacht, show the moneybags of Toulon you can't but success.

Another great highlight of that match was George Nauopus single handed lineout catch and offload, it is quiet impressive. "unbelievable lineout" I think its headed as, but that should find it anyways. Its worth a look, if ye can post it even better! Any rugby fan, forward or not, should be impressed by it

Is that a new rule this year? In any case, the main one I've been hearing about is the fact that Ulster and Connacht are tied in the table right now, and Connacht may finish above them - getting them into the HC. Which is a bit odd, considering that Ulster seemed to have started the season well, and have fallen pretty far.
Your name reminded me of something, too. I don't get to watch too much of Connacht, so I'm a bit ignorant here...maybe he plays this well all the time...But I thought Fionn Carr had two great games against Munster and Leinster.
But with a first choice of fullback like Kearney, and with Murphy still playing, and even Earls an option, it looks like Carr doesn't have much of a shot at playing in test matches, which is a bit unfortunate...

Anyone else's opinions/thoughts on that?
Superb try otherwise.

I thought it was boring, but good for you if you liked it.'
Well your opinion isnt that great....considering you base what you find fun, on being shafted from behind by 3 other men
I personally think it was a good game from the underdogs!!!
