Super 14 Pick of the Week - Round 13
The race for the semis was well and truly on last weekend, as sides within touching distance made it imperative to get maximum points, resulting in some great running rugby as they searched for those all important bonus points.
The Reds second half against the Hurricanes was much like the second half of their season disappointing. They still managed to scored a few great tries though, namely through Anthony Faainga and Rod Davies. The Canes themselves dished up their usual brand, as Hosea Gear crossed more than once as he looks to be the form wing in New Zealand at the moment.
We all saw, and talked about, the classic match between the Crusaders and the Bulls in Pretoria. Perhaps the controversial ending unfortunately overshadowed what was an incredible display of attacking rugby from both sides. The pick of the tries from that game are included here as theyre well worth watching again.
For the Chiefs, last years finalists who this season havent found their form, Jackson Willison got on the end of a brilliant try that was made by some slick passing down the line. Drew Mitchell pulled off a great individual try for the Waratahs, and seasoned campaigner Carlos Spencer got on the end of a nice counterattack for the Lions.
Thats just a few of the excellent tries that were scored in a fantastic weekend of action. This weekend is set to be a tense final round, as each match has its own set of permutations that will determine who makes the top four and who doesnt.
For now though, kick back and watch fifteen of the best tries scored in Round 13. Enjoy.

Gotta love the ignorant muppets trying to bring down the super 14, as always.
Great video with some incredible tries. Anyone who watches week in and week out knows how good the all round rugby is in the tournament. To the haters - you're missing out.

The Super 14 consists of the three best international teams in the world, why wouldn't it be the best competition in the world?
They have current WORLD CHAMPIONS, the Springboks playing there. (Yes, the Springboks, remember how they dismantled the BIL Lions with such ease?)
The Bulls v Stormers clash at Newlands, which seats 40-50 thousand was sold out 7 weeks ago, don't come here and talk about empty stadiums.
So to my point, you go and watch your wet, slow, predictable rugby. I'll go watch Bryan Habana tearing down the sideline, thanks.

June/July
Springbok take on Wales, France & Italy
Wallabies take on England & Ireland
All Blacks take on Ireland & Wales
Does anyone really think any of those northern teams have a shot against the top 3 in world rugby?

Anybody who sees these games in full will know that there is a lot of great defence, the reason why the defences are broken on these highlights is because .. now follow this carefully, I'll try and say it slowly so you can keep up .. these are clips of tries being scored by great attacking rugby beating the defence. I realise that might be an alien concept for you but you should try and learn something here.
Others have answered the ignorant stadium comments many times on RD before, and I guess you have just don't know much about Rugby League either.

He really has come a long way since making his debut for the Wallabies.

That's more than 5,000 more than any other rugby touranament in the world that doesn't involve national teams (the HC is the next best attended, with an average of roughly 15,000).
The rugby is the best in the world below international level, it has the best players and coaches and is always ont he cutting edge int erms of tactics, training and player development.
This is why so many S14 players and coaches are constantly poached by European clubs.
It is also why this competition (which is the sole source of national team players for Aus, NZ and SA) produces the three best rugby teams on the planet.
The players have better skills and a better rugby philosophy than European players, which is why European teams are constantly adapting SH tactics and training methods, and constantly recruiting SH coaches.
Beyond that, the rugby is simply more entertaining.
I find it hilarious when European fans have the audacity to critisize as their teams play such negative and unsuccesful rugby, with such low skill levels and such lack of ambition. Not only do European teams generally play with little flair, they don't seem to even try to, I guess because their skill set is so deficient.
Maybe if they knew how to offload in contact, keep the ball moving and break tackles, they'd compete better with the clearly better SH teams.

That is as close to the All Blacks vs Springboks as you can get, short of the real thing.
These are the same guys who European national teams can't score against, who regularly thrash European opposition.
They find it alot tougher to defend against each other though, you know, because SH players actually know how to play attacking rugby, and can beat defenders, keep the ball alive and break tackles.
