Jerome Porical kicks Perpignan into the Top 14 final

Perpignan knocked Toulouse out of the Top 14 with a 21-13 victory over their French rivals in the semi final in Montpelier on Friday. Jerome Porical kicked all 21 points as they progressed to the final, where they will face Clermont, who beat Toulon yesterday.
Toulouse had hoped to get a rare double by winning both the Top 14 and Heineken Cup, but thats not possible now so theyll throw everything into that final next weekend.
They did get off to a good start though, with scrumhalf Nicolas Bezy scoring early on thanks to a typically Toulouse counterattack and classy interplay. They were also up 13-9 at halftime, with two other penalties againt the three from Porical.
The defending champions Perpignan took control in the second half though with fullback Porical kicking four penalties to place them out of reach and into the final.
There was a bit of a scuffle in the second half, with Toulouse wing Vilimoni Delasau making an accusation of eye-gouging, one that is taken very seriously these days. We'll wait to see if anything develops from that.
Coach Jacques Brunel was delighted with the win, saying it was hard work getting there, but that his side couldnt wait to face Toulouse. "We knew this would be very, very tight from the start.
"Even when we were four points down at half-time, we knew there was still everything to play for. We are in the final again, but I don't know whether we are stronger than last year.
"We want to defend our title, but we know it'll be very difficult," he added.

Funny how both commentators were pronouncing tuilagi's name differently.

It is the first time I've seen him on the pitch (and thought he had quite a good game) and he gets to score a try in a semi-final.

Also, it seemed from the replay that the No. 14 just got bumped in the back and turned around and attached the prop.

I tried taping this one, but it didn't tape. Same thing happened last weekend with Heineken Cup.
The saturday SF (Clermont v Toulon) did tape though.
Wondering if it's a tv5monde rights issue, or if my cable company is yet again useless.

CHEYANQUI, do not bother, you got the best of the 2 SF, TOULON/CLERMONT is a cracker.

Is it just me or has french club rugby been such a let down of late...
....what happened to the old french teams...where you could guarantee an almighty scrap, it was 'tres' entertaining!
In all seriousness though, there was some awesome rugby there!!!
I didnt see any eye gouge going on, does anyone else feel that false claims should be heavily penalised? fines...bans.. etc...
i mean, attoub (im not trying to open a can of worms) gouged, and he gouged BAD, so he got a hefty hefty ban, which personally i feel was deserved (just as eye gouges should be banned heavily!) so the fact he loses earnings, reputation etc etc means that to accuse someone is outrageous if it is untrue.....

Common sense really in that it was the difference between maybe only 5 and a certain 7. However he did telegraph the pass a bit and it wasn't that far off being intercepted .. now that would've been embarrassing.

Not common sense IMO. Skrela had to choose between a sure 5 point (he could easily dive across the line) and a potential knock-on due to Bezy beeing too eager to score : )
yet everything went well, plus they get to score this try quite easily, which is hard for your opponnents motivation. (the try is so easy, at this point in the game, I thought Toulouse would crush Perpignan)

I like Perpignan but I'd like to see Clermont win, it'd be their first Brennus in 4 (?) finals. If Toulouse could win the HCup and Toulon the European Challenge, everybody would be happy. In France I mean. Except Perpignan of course.

I take your point Ulf .. but the truth is that in my day I would've taken on the cover, run around him and under the posts and kicked the bloody conversion and given someone a bit of cheek on the way back to the halfway just for a laugh .. well that's my story anyway.

i guess skrela knew it would be under the posts, whereas if he'd run round he might not have made it etc....so i guess its safety....
but it did look a bit weak!
