Super 14 Pick of the Week - Round 14
The Bulls, who fielded a below par side in order to rest some players, got hammered by the Stormers in Cape Town who were playing for a home semi final spot.
The Stormers actually set a few records this season, as they are the side that conceded the lowest amount of points for a season, as well as the least number of tries, 17. Nobody managed a four-try bonus point against them either, and the Blues were the only team to cross three times, despite the Stormers winning that game.
They will host the Waratahs tomorrow, a side whove actually won and lost the same amount of games as the Stormers, as well as scored 20 more points than them. Theyve conceded more though, with the Stormers having a better points difference. By all means theyre an evenly matched side, so it should be a great game.
The Bulls, sitting pretty on the top of the table, will host the Crusaders in Soweto, a field foreign to them, but theyll no doubt have the fans from Pretoria out in full force. The Crusaders have a disadvantage when it comes to travel, as they left South Africa not too long ago, but have now had to make the long trip back for the game.
Were set for a great afternoon of rugby with two intense semi finals. For now though, heres the best tries from the final round-robin stage of the tournament. Theyre all quality tries as usual, but make sure you dont miss the Quade Cooper flick that everyones been talking about. Enjoy.

the standard of try scoring in the s14 is without doubt better than any other league week in week out. you'd have to wait weeks to get a length of the field try in the guiness prem.

Dear God. Who chose the background music? I love rock(ect) almost as much as I like rugby, but these last two Highlights soundtracks have been horrendous...Please play energetic music...I like to live the experience, again.
The Rugby absolutely rocks though. I live in Cape Town and the vibe is something I have never experienced!

From a proud Englishman I have to say there is some proper good rugby there. Especially the one with james o'connor counter attacking, is he that young guy who plays for australia but could have chosen NZ or SA? Anyway cracking stuff. Probably the best highlights video i've seen on here. I'm a fan of cheerleaders, but not at rugby matches though.

beautiful stuff from o'connor and cooper, both nailed on for the wallabies I would say. Im still seeing a lot of tag rugby out there though

Hi, I am from belgium !!! I must say that cooper is a very very very good player and I will even say that he is for me the best player of the moment in the world !!! It has been 1 year that I follow the perfomances of cooper and I think he will be 10 for wallabies !!! Bye bye giteau !!!

yes...but he had the balls and tenacity to throw the pass. Gotta love the confidence of not just Cooper but almost every player in the competition. Once upon a time there was rugby like this in the NH...back in the 70s/80s where the players were not scared to throw that 50/50 pass. Go back and see some of the highlights from the 5 Nations from that era and you'll find a lot of similar plays.

And don't come to me with this bullshit "South Africa don't score good tries" when the Bulls are the fucking lead try scorers. The Cheetahs scored some wonderful tries but none were shown, the Build up to both Habana's tries were exceptional.

That Maitland try was probably the best of the Crusader's tries from the first half of that game, but the other two could have easily made that clip too.

This was an amazing compilation of tries, on a website that as far as I can tell has a lot of South African members and possibly is even run by one (?) and you claim some big conspiracy because there were only one or two tries by South African teams? Come on, just enjoy the tries for what they are, which is incredible

^^ Go back and watch the highlights from some of the rounds in which the Bulls actually played a game, man. They've dominated most of the other highlights. There were a couple of great Stormers tries in that clip and a ton of good tries from all nations that could have made it.

The funny thing is Australia will probably bench Cooper and O'Conner may not even get in the squad, they've got so much depth in their backline this year.

gotta love quade cooper and james oconnor, cos you need balls to run back from ur ingoal or throw that 50-50 'back door' pass,
because it could indeed go terribly bad (check the friday funnies with dave haylet-petty or somthng...)

I know this leaves the centres lacking attacking flair, because Conrad Smith is more of a defensive centre, I feel the fire power from the back three, which I think New Zealand has the best back three and depth to the back three in the world right now, would more than make up for this.

Nearly every single one of these tries is better than the guiness premiership try of the season! Great running rugby, but have to say it might possibly have something to do with the standard of tackling aswell!

Whatever the case, I'm ready for some internationals now. Nothing to get too puffed up about, but it'd be nice to see how national sides are measure up to each other right now.

To make it fit with a song, it's got to be a certain length, so some tries get excluded. Why don't you either (a) request a clip of the Cheetahs match or a specific try, or (b) make your own video and post it. Until then, come off it.

The only question is if Australia can challenge South Africa and New Zealand as best team.
The tackling might look poor to an Englishman, but that's cuz you lot don't know to break them.

If anyone reckons they can run a better rugby site than this, for frickin' free, then my advice is to go ahead. Then you can feature all the action from whichever country you think is being marginalised here. Otherwise, shut the hell up and thank your lucky stars that Greiffel runs this site at all. I for one as a NH fan without SKY TV can only see a lot of this stuff right here and I'm very grateful for it.
As for the rugby - great stuff from the S14 as always. My Dad, who's as proud an England fan as ever there was, saw his first S14 game the other day and he said it was brilliant.
Quade Cooper is just the sort of player every true rugby fan loves to watch.

Bowden can't play because he's leaving at the end of the season. Which leaves us with crap for centres.
And I think with a backline featuring so many Hurricanes might not go over well with some of the Crusaders backs, who have actually been winning games :P I think people like Slade and Guildford deserve a shot, and I'd definitely like to see Ranger.

Interesting comments. The one Cheetahs try that I saw, that was recommended to me, had atrocious defence from the Lions so it was scrapped because of timing etc. Difficult to please everyone, especially when there's only a few hours to make these things.
