London Sevens highlights of the final between Australia and South Africa

London Sevens highlights of the final between Australia and South Africa

On Monday I posted a video from the London Sevens that was made by the IRB featuring seven of the best tries from the tournament. Today weve got highlights of the final that Australia won when they beat South Africa 19-14.

While Sevens clearly isnt everyones cup of tea, based on some of the comments on here sometimes, theres a large majority out there who see the value in what it can do for both a players development, and of course enjoy the fun side of things with tries aplenty and a great party atmosphere in the crowd.

The London Sevens brought both those elements as there were thousands who attended Twickenham over the course of the weekend, many of which were dressed in fancy-dress.

On the field though, it was war as South Africa, who beat hosts England in the quarter-finals, looked to triumph in the finals after what has been an indifferent year for them. They beat Samoa in the semis, after Australia themselves had beaten Argentina.

As youll see here, the final went back and forth with it coming right down to the last minute, when an incredible try saving tackle was made by Australian captain James Stannard on Cecil Afrika.

Samoa are currently series leaders, with New Zealand not far behind. Itll all come down to the final leg in Edinburgh next weekend. If youre able to, make sure you get out there to support not only your team, but some fantastic rugby and a great party.

Thanks from me also. It was mentioned on The Rugby Club last night but they didn't show any footage. Great to see us win something finally.

Just a quick note to the Sevens fans - if you do enjoy the clips, please say so! Often when Sevens clips are posted the response isn't great, so it means less will be posted in future.

So if you do enjoy seeing the Sevens (or any video for that matter), please leave a quick comment to say thanks to let me know its appreciated and enjoyed. Cheers

Sevens is great to see for intelligent runnings and the manner to make a pass after contact.

it will be entertaining to see that during olympic games.

But i find the celebrations a bit cocky and "footballer"
not good for rugby

7's is brilliant, please keep showing the games/highlights.

The athleticism, pace and skill is incredible and should be respected, you'll find the majority of negative comments are from the fat boys who just like to 'get stuck in'.

The tackle at the end of the game by the Aussie 10 is one of the best tackles I've seen - must be a shoe in for TSRB 12.

great game. I myself play rugby seven and its a great game, because you've got 15 minutes to do your best, and each try is critical and might finish the game.

I really love watching the sevens!!
However, the celebrations and the incorrect scoring of the try bugs me
it frustrates me when players "place" the ball on the ground instead of actually scoring.
you could almost argue that there is no try because there is 0 downward pressure.
however i'd like to see the ref brave enough to disallow the try :P

Canadianscrumhalf, I think you've misinterpreted the law about downward pressure mate.
Placing th ball is just as legit as any other way of putting it down.
The reason they do that in sevens is two fold, obviously to get the ball close to the sticks for the conversion and also to allow time for your side to get a breather and eat up a bit of time if you're already ahead on the scoreboard.

RD,

I really enjoy sevens clips. It would be great to have some of the old clips, perhaps in a "Remember When?" section or something.

Please, whenever possible, post 7s clips. Many of us would be very grateful.

For those of you who are cynical of 7s rugby, It is pretty obvious that you have NEVER played it. The demands on personal physical fitness are out of this world.

Don't just take my word on it. How about reading the written words of Gordon Tietjens, the NZ 7s coach for the last odd decade, and somewhat of a 7s God.

For those of you still cynical, I have 2 words. Waisale Serevi.
