Scotland win the two-test series against Argentina
Conditions were cold and wet with the only try of the match coming from big Jim Hamilton just two minutes in. Dan Parks converted, and Scotland were on their way to what would be a historic occasion.
The hero of last week added another two penalties later in the match, and thanks to some staunch defense, Scotland were able to hold out everything that Argentina threw at them and go on to achieve another fantastic win.
"That is five games without defeat, if you include the Japan warm-up match and the Six Nations draw with England. In terms of away wins, it is three on the spin - against Ireland in Dublin and twice over Argentina. That's a pretty decent sequence, said Parks.
"Our next challenge is the All Blacks at Murrayfield in November. They will be something different altogether, a phenomenal team. The way we are going, you can never say never because we believe in what we are doing and something very special is developing here," he added.
Captain Alastair Kellock is now raring to go against the big guns. "If you had asked someone if we could challenge New Zealand before the tour of Argentina they would have said no. But we will be looking to continually improve and be looking to play as well as we can in every game and if we do that we can win any game.
"In saying that there is world-class opposition out there and they are only going to get stronger and stronger. But it doesn't get any better than this at the moment. This is a real high point in my international career the highest ever," he said.

why is there all this crap going round about scotland being a boring team, the've won a test series in argentina. what the hell else do they have to do to earn some respect from u tools,
perhaps they might get some if they prove their good enough at the world cup.

There does seem to be a pattern there. I'm not bothered though - a win is a win. Argentina weren't exactly lighting up the field either..

RD, or anyone out there, is there any updates about the condition of Thom Evans? I've searched and found nothing new....whilst im aware that injuries take time I was just wondering if there is any news....last info I can find is like the middle of Feb or something...

i think thom might be out for a very long time due to how bad his injury was, but scotland need a back like him that can go that extra inch and score tries, IMO we should put shlong lamont 13 and have max and danielli on the wings but hey what do i know lol.

Sorry guys, spoke to Chris Patterson a couple of weekends ago when he visited our club and he reckons Thoms playing days are sadly over. A real shame to lose Scotlands only man with genuine gas. Lets hope Max can continue to improve and do whatever he can to emulate his wee brother.

Just read an update on how Thom was training again...in what shape or form Im not sure of, but it was indicated to him at least running....so perhaps his international playing days are over but I doubt he'll give up altogether...

Great win by Scotland!
Even though they were two terribly boring matches, well done by Scotland.
Argentina are an ageing team. Roncero is 33, Scelzo is 34, Ledesma is 37, Contepomi is almost 33... And none of the youngters -like Rodriguez, Gonzalez, Fernandez, Campos, Galindo are good enough.
Plus, of their U20 squad no player raised the bar.
They will get hammered every match of the Quad Nations 'til 2015.

To be honest I reckon they're great from 4-9 and the front row is improving but 2 games and 1 try doesn't sound like the most interesting series.
A bit more flair in the backs and a greater use of Evans and they may be onto something.

Great for Scotland but maybe a touch sad for Argentina that they're struggling to keep up with the efforts of the class of 2007. The rugby world needs these guys, because there are no other teams outside the tri and six nations sides who are competitive enough; our beloved 'global' game cannot match football as a global game it seems!!

I really do not like football but I have semi followed the world cup, and its damn funny!!!
France cheat Ireland out of playing in the tournament, and don't even make it out of the tables, and get sent home in disgrace.
England is purely laughable, and apparently blame 'homesickness' oh booo hoo!
Italy (last tournament winners right?) have yet to win a match....
I mean, honestly this tournament is a joke, and finally all those lower class, lower intelligence, brain dead chimps are starting to realise they pay ridiculous amounts of money to see losers.....
Football is going down....it will ofcourse change and it will climb (probably always ahead of rugby)...but its going down...
.....mind you, is that a good thing? more footballers turning to rugby? Uh oh, we'll have more Matt Giteau-esque dives.....

Fantastic win for Scotland and a great series in general. Some idiots on here, no doubt English, just like any opportunity to slag off Scotland when they do well. However, if they tried to make their comments more constructive like more intelligent contributors they may be able to add to a serious and interesting discussion.
We cannot overlook what a fantastic series win this is, and England proved in 2003 that you can win a WC playing boring as hell, forward orientated, up the jumper rugby, but i don't feel Scotland are quite at the stage yet where they can win continually (although 4 in a row, 3 away from home is a VERY good start) in that tyle alone and they need to fins game breakers.
I agree with having S Lamont at 13 as you just half to look at the first half of the Welsh game to see how well that backline worked and how penatrative it was. Hopefully when Rory Lamont is back he will add a lot more attacking flair than a steady but limited Southwell.
As for Thom, Dan Lydiate recovered from a similar injury to go on and play international again, so i don't see why Thom cannot. I think the biggest question is whether he chooses to or not.
He was quoted not long ago though as saying he hoped to be available to help the Warrioirs at some point next season, which seems a little premature, but clearly indicates his intentions and desire to return, as well as the excellent progress he is making physically!
Fingers crossed he does indeed wear the navy blue again as he really could make all the difference to what is a rapidly improving Scottish side (now 7th in the world again!)

The game was as boring as hell, but to see the final score was worth it.

Juggernauter, you say tomato I say shut up.
You find scotland boring because they didnt run the length of the field every play and score a thousand points.....well shame on you, and i feel sorry that you can't see past the scoreline.
that also goes for everyone who calls scotland boring.

Its typical, Springboks claim they dont care about the game it means nothing, when they lose.

As a Scottish fan i didn't find either game boring.
Scotland are actually trying to play a fast, but structured, style of play. The conditions in the 2nd test dictated the style of play. Dan Parks kicked the ball more in the first half hour of this match than he did in the whole of the 1st test.
I will admit that Scotland do lack that final cutting edge but that has been the problem for years. I hope Robinson realises that Max Evans is best on the wing where he can have a roaming role. He doesn't have the solidity for centre. Grove or Cairns are better options at 13.
I do hope Mark Robertson gets a go in the side in the Autumn. The guy is fantastic in one on one situations. He's not as fast as Thom Evans but he has a class side-step.

Does anyone know when Rory Lamont will be fit again? I agree with the earlier comment about Southwell, steady player but limited. For me , Lamont offers a better attacking threat when he plays and gives Scotland a cutting edge whilst counter attacking . Heres hopeing hes back for this season ! and can the english tossers that roam the site judging scotland please go and take a good f*** to yourself . england could be the most over hyped team ive ever come across. fix your own team before you start judging others. Looking forward to Scotland giveing Johnson and his bumboys a good thrashing at the RWC !

Not sure when R Lamont or Mossy will be fit again; maybe it's time to give Jim Thompson a crack at the #15 shirt? Haven't seen much of him, but he could be the answer. He's young, he's got pace, and he's got a decent boot. And although he's a centre, I think Pete Murchie should be given a chance to crack the national side.
