Best tries of the Top 14 - Round 2
Im not going to go through match by match, but what I will say is that the standard of these tries, especially the top half, is superb and well worth watching.
The one exception, or contentious effort at least, was Chris Masoes try for Castres against Toulouse as he went over but looked to have lost the ball over the line. Castres won the match, with Toulouse coach Guy Noves fuming afterwards. "Masoe knocked it on in the in-goal area," said Noves.
For Clermont, wing Wesley Fofanas dummy allowed him to stroll over to score a great try after a neat chip from flyhalf Brock James. Brives Gerhard Vosloo also brought out the skill as he charged down field against Perpignan for a fantastic try.
In the same match, lock Damian Browne got on the end of a great series of passing to cross for a wonderful try. That was matched, if not bettered, by Montpellier against Racing Metro as they scored one of the team tries of the season.
At number one though, as featured here earlier in the week, its Julien Arias and his top quality solo effort against newcomers, La Rochelle. It's certainly worth watching again.

#1 try was stellar. #2 was not very good, imo. Appeared to be an offensive overload with no space to work with. The defense did a great job but they just didn't have enough bodies on the right side of the pitch.

but what is cool here, it's to discover new faces.
dumayrou from montpellier and fofana from clermont are for example, 2 young lads with great future.
with his new "huron" haircut, bastareaud seem even more brutal:)

if you really love rugby you should appreciate good play no matter which hemisphere or country it comes from.

Way better commentary than the last top 14 clip. Hope I never have to listen to that pom again. I couldn't even understand this clip but at least you could tell they were excited/ not on antiques roadshow.

great video RD thanks!! #1 was great good setp at first and vision to see there was noonw home. How many locks score tries in the top14 this week it seemed like every second try was a lock

I can't wait till the NH actually DOES raise the standard of their play so we can stop hearing about how good it is and instead actually SEE how good it is. I'd actually love for the NH to knock us off more often (or at all) because it would make it so much better. The reason State of origin is so fantastic (up until recently) is because the result is almost 50/50. Fact is it's boring now because you know Qld will win. Same applies to SH v NH games. I still love it because I can admire the standard of play and the manner of the win, however the result is rarely in doubt.

Seriously though yeah S.Hemisphere rugby is generally superior but in the last two years South Africa, the world champs and at the time Tri-nations champs were beaten by Ireland and France, the All Blacks were beaten by France, and Australia drew with Ireland and lost to Wales, Scotland and England. Maybe you should base your opinions on reality rather than beer?

Yawn on the SH/NH debate - magic tries and that basteuraud chap is bloody massive - not sure if it's true but I heard that he weighs 18 stone!
Still remember the 6 nations where BOD (who has a mean defensive game) was clinging on to him like a rag-doll and he managed to offload for the score!

the Brive #6 is Gerrard Vosloo, SA nationality but he should play for France (playing there since a long time.

I sometimes watch the Top 14 on the Eurosport channel. It definitely has its moments of brilliance but i was surprised to hear it is considered Europe's best provincial comp. I just have a problem with the referees, they seem to whistle the game into the ground, i wish it could get up to the standard of Super 14. However i understand there are certain factors such as coaching and weather preventing this.
