Currie Cup Round 11 - Highlights from the weekend
The three games featured are the Sharks against the Free State Cheetahs, Pumas vs Western Province, and the Blue Bulls against the Golden Lions.
The Sharks continue to look like tournament favourites as they showed their strength against the Cheetahs in Durban with a convincing 30-16 win. Springbok Ryan Kankowski made a difference as he was involved in setting up tries, first for Odwa Ndungane, then later for Rory Kockott. Willem Alberts and Charl McLeod also crossed for well taken tries.
Western Province, now second on the table behind the Sharks, travelled to the impressive Mbombela Stadium on Friday night as they took on hosts the Pumas. They proved too strong as they crushed them 62-10 in what was eventually a one sided contest.
The Jukskei derby between the Blue Bulls and the Lions was a far closer affair, with the revitalised Lions fighting back from being 24-9 but eventually going down to their neighbours, who won 24-21 at their home ground of Loftus Versfeld.
Please note that the three clips are presented as a playlist, so you can easily skip to the match you'd like to see (click the second button), or just sit back and watch all three as they'll start automatically once hitting play.

To Semperfimamba: I think it is, I have definitely been in a game where a guy dove over a ruck to score a try and the ref called it illegal.

Spies has played like a meek lamb this past season in international games, and Kankowski, when given the opportunity, has also struggled to physically impose himself in international rugby.
Currie Cup, Super 14, open test matches, smaller nations - they are both great.

And Wolfman, stop being a cunt. We all see that you're just trying to incite some childish arguments here, so cut it out.

...but the fact that they came within 3 points...that's the last-place team 3 points shy of the first-place team from last year's Super 14...the Bulls really need their Bok starters back, I guess.

And I am a Bulls supporter, with the Sharks being my second team. No need for you to take things so personally or be so touchy.

Re. Kankowski, why would you call him soft? How often do you see him knocked back in the tackle, missing tackles, or lying on the floor feigning injury? It's just a foolish and insulting comment really.
If you'd prefer him to be a Lauaki type who bashes players out the way, fair enough, but that's not the type of player he is. He runs around them, setting up tries for others and legging it to score himself a lot of the time.
Sure they both could do with more mongrel in them, but I think thats more a Spies issue than a Kankowski one, as Spies is the one who doesn't have the natural flair and is built like the friggin incredible hulk. He should be murdering opponents.
NiWiTa September 24, 2010 12:03 pm

Reckon he should be regular instead of Spies...
Bradders September 24, 2010 12:28 pm

You can dive over a ruck and I have seen highlights of it on here I think?

Now if you want a # 8 thats all diesel then who better than Deysel, he's an effin tank, eith him or Alberts or Duane from Western Province, all true 8 men, not wings with muscles...lolol..
Ever see how easy it is for Alberts, Duane and Deysel to bump off tackles and gain serious ground? Thats coz they dont eff around by tyring to dance past tackles...daysey dips his shoulder and its a wrap "pop" gose the tackler..lol. Cant wait for him to recover.(not to mention he pretty good at stealin ball)
Imagine a back like of Deysel, Alberts and Juan....daaaaaamn...can you say shock and awe? lol..
Thoughts?
