Dan Tuohy charge knocks out Marcelo Bosch

Ulster beat Biarritz 9-6 in a low scoring Heineken Cup pool 4 game at Ravenhill on Saturday. In a tight game of few standout highlights, this big charge from Dan Tuohy was much requested.
Ian Humphreys was hero of the day as he kicked three second half penalties to take Ulster to victory after theyd been 6-0 down at halftime. His final kick was similar to his first, from over 50 out, and was slotted with little time remaining on the clock.
Hes since said he didnt actually realise how little time was left, which perhaps explains his coolness under pressure. He has said though that the extra kicking training he and halfback partner Ruan Pienaar have put in paid huge dividends.
"To be honest I probably didnt realise. I thought there was a bit more time left. Fortunately for me I got it up in the air and the wind did the rest," said Humphreys.
"As I said to Ruan, thats what were doing out there every day after everybodys gone home. You just bring it back to that; its what we do on the training pitch, as if were having a wee competition against one another and just trying to knock it over," he added.
As for Tuohy, he was a stand out player on the day, carrying well, effective at lineout time, and sticking his hand up for Ireland selection come next months Six Nations.
His charge over Marcelo Bosch left the Argentine center out cold on the floor, and despite attempting to shrug it off, the brunt of Tuohys knee meant that his day was over.
Ulster plays Aironi in a crucial game on Saturday, that if they win, will guarantee them their first appearance in the knockout stages in Europe since 1999.

Hope Marcelo is okay....
The game was very poor....
Ulster did play their game....but I am far from impress with them (at least on this game)
As for Biarritz, their inconsistency (and lack of initiative in this game) will cost them direly. I am far from convince they will qualify for the next round....

Bosh was unlucky to take his knee on temple, it explains the ko i think.
biarritz didn't attack in this match. even if the last penalty didn't exist (thx to n.owens, official ref of the irish teams) ulster deserved to win, they had more willing.
biarritz and ulster will pass, don't know the good order

How apt.
I thought there was a law that if you're concussed you have to leave the pitch immediately?
Similar incident in November where Chris Ashton knocked himself out on big Victor Matfield saw the ref and medics debating for ages whether he should be allowed to stay on. Same result: player insists on continuing then realises fairly soon afterwards that he can't and goes off anyway.
While I admire the players' bravery and determination in wanting to carry on they're taking a big risk - if you're already concussed and get nailed again there can be serious consequences. Also, it's a bloody waste of time when it's fairly inevitable the player will need to be replaced anyway.

He got the ball in after a kick downfield and preceded to get up to full steam blowing the first tackler into the air and taken down by the second.
Great charge tho, would like to see that one again...

If you get knocked out it doesn't automatically mean your going to be concussed too.

I thought though that if after the knockout you feel groggy, nauseous, confused, dizzy etc for a prolonged time, (eg more than a couple of minutes), that pretty much meant you were concussed. Bosch and Ashton both looked like they didn't have a clue what was going on around them for a good few minutes after getting back up.

Official Irish ref? He has been a terrible referee for Irish teams, particularly Leinster. What have you got against Irish teams? There's always a hint of anti-Irish in your comments.
Also, why did you say that the Irish media said that Munster were going to thrash Toulon? It was pretty obvious judging by their previous HC performances and their performances in the Magners League that this would be very unlikely and the Irish media seemed to support this view.

You could be concussed without getting knocked out, but if you get knocked out you're definitely concussed.

I'm Not anti irish, i have a problem with Nigel Owens since The hcup final of 2008 where he advantaged munster on every decisions. Ps: Owens directed every munster finals this 2008 hcup season...
Sorry if i hurted your Irish soul. Wasn't my objective.
Even if it wasn't a pen, ulster deserved to win
Concerning mdia comments on Toulon cash-mercenaries, it was mentionned in Irish times..

Maybe you aren't but I've always noticed that you drop little (what appear to be) anti-Irish hints here and there while trying to sound even handed.
Owens was fine in the final. Get over it. I'd have a problem with Owens if he was continuously making mistakes / poor decisions against French teams, but he's not. He has however been poor vs. Irish teams (as I said, Leinster in particular).
Any links to the article? I couldn't find it and all the Irish media I read suggested the opposite outcome would occur.
And I'm not Irish. I'm sorry your French soul is still sore from losing the 08 final.

What the hell was he doing.
Go low or go high, but pick one and then commit to the hit, try to get on the front foot.
He was asking to get run over.

It's funny how all of the refs are against the French, and the all the citing commissioners, and the IRB and the ERC and absolutely everyone else...we hear this too much from our French friends.
The game was poor, neither team really played at all. But I'll be happy to see Ulster go through, it has been too long since they were in the quarter finals (they must have the worst record of any team that has won the competition!).
