Republic of Telly - An Anthem for Rugby
It's a viral video which serves as an ad for a comedy show on Irish television called The Republic of Telly on tv station RTE. It features the comedy group Dead Cat Bounce, as they do their take on the sport of rugby.
The skit includes former Ireland international hooker Shane Byrne, along with former Kiwi rugby player and current tv pundit and host, Brent Pope.
I'm sure we all know the saying ' If we can't laugh at ourselves, then what can we laugh at? ' That pretty much sums up this video, and the reason I'm posting it. So while it makes a mockery of rugby and hints at other activities underfoot, it's all in good fun and is worth checking out.
If you're a tad homophobic and struggle with that kind of humour, rather don't watch.

This is sooo bad that it becomes reeeaaalllly funny again. The last sentence of the song says it all: if you don't play rugby, you're gay (or didn't i understand that correctly???!)

haha, i know people who make fun of rugby like this but until they actual start playing they realize that it is far from a soft, cuddly, 'gay' sport.

lol! only rugby can be so cool to mock itself on a theme that makes other sports cringe (i'm looking at you football!), and also we are the first sport to have a top notch international player to come out officially, and still be one of the manlyest sports out there (still looking at you football princesses!) we really rock!

Unfunny and rubbish. The mixing up F&R in rucking apparently seems to be the funniest part and even that was just laboured and poor.

On the topic of Ireland... Which then relates to Wales (game this weekend) does anyone else wonder why the F mike Phillips is playing for Wales? love how we can take the piss out of our selves like this, good banter. I can appreciate some ones view on rugby if they never really seen it before, they tend to be put off by some aspects thats seen as normal to us folk.

I think the idea, Von, is that if you didn't find it funny...well, alright, that's understandable.
