Ulster snatch victory from the Dragons with classic finish at Ravenhill
Ulster moved to fourth on the Magners League table with the thrilling win courtesy of a dramatic finale as they snatched the win away from the Dragons, who themselves thought theyd pulled off the miracle late in the game.
Darren Cave scored for Ulster with just four minutes left, before Jason Tovey of the Dragons looked to have won the game for the visitors with his 79th minute drop goal. Springbok Pienaar then delivered the goods for the home side, after a perfect platform had been laid by his hard working forwards.
Pienaar, who won the game for Ulster with a long range penalty a few weeks back against the Scarlets, was modest when asked about his contribution. He gave credit to the forwards and said he was blessed to be able to play with such good players around him.
"I don't get many opportunities to drop goals and it wasn't the prettiest but at least it went over and we got the points. I just looked up and thankfully it went through the posts - it's a great result for us," Pienaar said.
"Paul Marshall reminded me that we could go for a drop goal so I have to give the credit to him and we showed a lot of character at the end."

Ruan Pienaar once again rescued Ulster. It's great to see that he seems to be enjoying himself.
For the Saffa's watching perhaps Pedrie's impact should also be lauded. Johann Muller also was immense.
Watching the end of that match I nearly had a heart attack! Big push for the end of the season now.

Is Spence really that good? I've been impressed any time I've seen him, but is he in the same league as Bowe? (It's probably unfair to compare young players to O'Driscoll)

Hate to be a typical critic, I do love to see lots of tries, but wasn't that the worst defence by both sides?

Going by that Dragons match alone, if he isn't mispronouncing names, he's seeing the wrong jersey altogether and even making up fixtures - quarter finals?!
On the plus side, he's as impartial as they come, and has a nice tone of voice. Unfortunately, more than a touch unreliable on the details of the game and sport.

In that sped up sequence of Dragon attacks, the ball was almost always passed one out to a single runner. Is that normal play in the Magners League?

@jono, they were trying to set up the drop goal. If you have seen any Leinster highlights over the last year, you will know that that is not all the Magner's League is about.

Well, you seem to be in the minority there, Thomas. I think the rest of us will continue to appreciate a bit of modesty or humility from rugby players; it is, after all, a game played by men who should know what the world "respect" means.

Ruen Pienaar didn't do much in the first half of the season to be honest, he was looking like a big waste of money, but he has put a couple of decent games together now. Just in time for the HC quarters - hopefully Ulster can get through to the semis but they've a big task to do it against Northampton (I think).
