School Of Hard Knocks 2011 - Episode 6 - Final

The long awaited final to this years School of Hard Knocks is now ready as Scott Quinnell, Will Greenwood, and the rest of the team face the final hurdle in their life changing program with a group of unemployed youths from Croydon.
Over the weeks we've watched on as the guys have made great strides both on and off the rugby field. In many ways the changes made off the field have been the ultimate goal of the show. Most of them hadn't played rugby before though so to see them embrace the sport and allow themselves to learn from the values and lessons it brings, has been fascinating to watch.
In this final episode, emotions run high as job opportunities are handed to the guys. A bit of training, guidance, and motivation is needed though, and will no doubt change their lives going forward.
On the rugby side of things, the passion shown in this episode by Scott Quinnell in particular is really good to see. The personal interest that the mentors have invested in the guys also makes it an emotional finale to a fantastic series.
Big thanks to Sky Sports for producing it, Chris Chudleigh and Rugby Performance for doing their bit, and to everyone else involved in making a change. Onwards and upwards.
Time: 47:50
Note: If you're in Germany, here's another way for you to watch it - SOHK final

this year's group seemed to lack sme of the obvious talent that last year's had (eg. kwesi) but certainly they're going on a massive journey.

Germany seems shit hot on audio copyright and YouTube. I guess they don't want any free publicity for their artists.

Hey Drucko whats your team? I was in Belo Horizonte in September and hooked up with the rugby team, they mentioned they were encouraging Favela kids too. They had a great rugby spirit.

Glad to hear Aaron is doing well. He came across as someone who is genuinely trying to improve his life, after having had a tough up bringing.
Its good to see that this programme brings about genuine change for those who participate and see it through.
As a side note, imagine playing against Colin Charvis when you have only been playing rugby for 8 weeks!

I think perhaps they could've used a bit more help from people trained to deal with the kind of personal problems the lads have.

And on another note, it must been very tough to film this thing. Most guys don't want to be filmed or put out like people that cry and stuff, but crying is alright, but getting it on camera, that is a job well done. And these kids (only 25 myself). And in the end, these guys should be very proud and everyone that made this program should be damn pleased with them self.
Cheers on a good job.

And speaking of job interviews, I wish I could get a job with a program like this in the US. The skills, discipline and camaraderie learned in sports is something that can improve anyone's life.
Thanks so much for posting these episodes. If anyone has any rugby advice for me about rugby, feel free to send me an email.
Peace.
