The History of Rugby - Parts 14 & 15 - Final

It's dragged on a bit, but today we've got the 14th and final parts of the thoroughly enjoyable History of Rugby documentary. It started with the games inception, and two and a half hours later, ends just before the 2003 Rugby World Cup.
Looking back, the first episode was posted on here exactly a year ago, so hopefully those of you that have been following along have enjoyed it. The opportunity to catch up on how the game was formed and what's happened over the years is not something to be scoffed at, so no matter where you come from or which team you support, we'd like to think you've found value in it.
Two weeks ago part 13 covered the Five Nations and went right up till the 1999 World Cup. That's where we pick up in part 14, but as England didn't have a great World Cup, the documentary then skips ahead.
In fact, the rest of the documentary focuses on England and how their star rose in the build up to the 2003 World Cup. You could say it's because it's English made, but it's also perhaps a fair reflection of the time, as they were a powerful unit that as we all know, went on to take the title.
Ironically that is where the documentary ends, just before that tournament. Perhaps in time we'll get to see an updated version that covers the next eight years, including this years World Cup in New Zealand. Time will tell though, and if or when it happens, you can be sure that you'll get a chance to see it right here on RD.
Enjoy the rest of this one (22 mins total), and if you did, please leave a comment to say so, and share it with your friends. Both parts are listed as a playlist below. Or you can catch up on all episodes via the History of Rugby archive page .

What a joke of a documentary.

Anglo-centric?

But clearly, as the series has gone on, it's been slanted towards an English rugby highlights reel.
Not a big problem, though. Either watch it, or don't. Until recently, the squad has been...lackluster for the past couple years. So it's interesting to see proof that in the past, they've been a pretty imposing side and chalked up some big wins.
(On a documentary-related, maybe RD might have some info on it, anyone heard anything about that Inside Biarritz film that was made last year or so following BO in the Heineken Cup - did it ever come out?)

The rest of it was good anyway.

Rugby was invented in England, this documentary is English, therefore would it not be geared towards english people and therefore be deemed to have an english theme to it all?
Im not saying rugby is all about england, but i wouldnt watch a documentary about the invention of Zorb balls and expect it to not focus on new zealand....

it's not about the game roots. england have launched a lot of sports shared (or not) by the whole world: football, rugby, cricket, tennis, etc...
But history of rugby is not just about england. Their golden 2003 era was remarkable but even the precedent chapters (1970, 1980, 1990...) seem a bit anglo-centric, as i personnaly think that teams like AB's, Wales and France have brought far more to rugby than england...
Just a question of view, whether u are from a nation to another, nothin more

Any other team in the world could just play the last couple of episodes in this series if they wanted to fire their team up.

1) I hate England
2) Rob Andrew should never appear on TV. Ever.

An impressive team got to be said, amazing to see many of the same faces still in English squad!
Rob Andrew is no future pundit based on this talk to camera performance....zzzzzzzzz

But I have to agree with most of the other posters, you can't call it the history of rugby if the main focus is on one nation. 15 episodes with ten dedicated to the top ten nations and others dedicated to the Pacific Island and other to the British and Irish Lions etc... Just an idea.
None the less, enjoyable series.

My question is: Have any of the other unions also created a similar video which could also be posted to address the balance?
btw. there is a much newer and updated version of the this RFU video commercially available.
