Scotland see off Italy in final warm-up match at Murrayfield
Scotland fielded a side that wasn't at full strength, so will be encouraged by the win, and particularly the form of flyhalf Dan Parks. They still have some way to go though to reach their best before their first match of the Rugby World Cup on September 10th, again Romania.
Coach Andy Robinson still felt they could have played better however, saying that he was frustrated that they didn't score more points with the possession and chances they had.
"That's the mentality, the skill level, the decision-making we've got to be able to find. We are working hard to create opportunities -- it's now about really nailing them," he said.
Italy produced a lovely try that included two neat inside flicks and a very good finish from flying winger Tommaso Benvenuti, but there was a sad moment late in the game as big Nikki Walker injured his knee in contact, so won't be on the plane to New Zealand with the rest of the squad.

Scotland played well in the first half then they just went to sleep again. Im getting worried that scotland still cant seem to score lots of tries in games plus their play is one dimensional (scrum half gives to the forwards then someone drops the ball right at the end). However, i always keep confident that my country will do well in the world cup and will be more adventurous in the future. We have fantastic players but all i want is to see them bloody score.

I'm not sure about it but is the first scottish try actually legal? What is the rule when a player go to the floor? Can he stand up with the ball afterwards?

i didn't watch the game but from the highlights it looks as if scotland moved the ball down the line much quicker which is great to see

Thank God New Zealand and Australia play rugby. Italy, Scotland and South Africa are the most boring rugby nations in the world. Worse than the "90% of the time out of form" Irish too.

What an awesome try by the Italians, can it be that the Italian backline is finally getting creative?! At this rate Ireland v Italy in the Cup is looking to be a cracker!

First Italian try is as good as you'll see but the defense looked completely lethargic in attempting to deal with it!

If he's not held he can get up immediately I believe.
Perhaps the highlights tell half the story but that didn't look half bad by the Italians. First try was a beauty!

Yeh I totally agree!!!! That try fest NZ produced against South Africa this weekend was a beauty and a fine example of great exciting rugby!

2nd string buddy and it was still a more entertaining match. not to mention we were playing against SA who make every game they're involved in boring as fuck.

Italy's tries were very good... too bad they are getting rid of Mallet after the RWC... he had placed inspiration into the young players and the Italian player are getting better.

I'm not sure what England have to do with this match. Oh wait that's right nothing. New Zealand? nope nothing. South Africa? again not a thing. Tired of the bitching going on, not sure it's even banter any more.
Italy are looking better and it's great to see them running the ball with support.
Scotland aren't pulling tries out continuously but are scoring more a match than they used to which was 1 or even none.
Glad to see these two teams stepping up their game.

The NH vs SH bitching is getting very old, very fast. Especially for neutral fans and even more so if it happens off topic.
Really enjoyed this game btw, hope Italy and Scotland can cause an upset!

I really enjoyed those highlights. Both teams came out of the 6 nations with heads held high, and with signs of future promise. Really good to see both now have the confidence to play ambitious running rugby (if only in spells)!
Would definitely make the tournament interesting if these two can cause a few upsets.
And I know it won't stop and we call it banter, but if we didn't have different countries playing different styles of rugby it wouldn't be the sport we love!

its noce seeing a nh team playing with some creativity. That first scotish try was scored playing the same style of rugby that nz and aus play.. albeit, a tad more sloppy.. but still, very promising
