Gavin Henson knocked out by punch from new Bath team-mate

Former Wales star Gavin Henson was knocked out by a teammate in a pub in Bath on Wednesday night. Mobile phone footage of the incident has emerged, showing Henson in an altercation with what appears to be Carl Fearns, who floored him with one punch.

Due to injury and controversial incidents, 31-year-old Henson has done the rounds since leaving Ospreys in 2010. He had a short stint with Saracens before being given a chance at Toulon, but that didn't materialise after an altercation in a pub, where he reportedly insulted Jonny Wilkinson.

He was suspended and released from the club. He later moved to Cardiff Blues, but that contract was terminated after drunken antics on a flight included the former Bachelor and Strictly Come Dancing star throwing ice at airline stewards.

Out in the wilderness again, Henson then moved to London Welsh, but after they were relegated, he moved to Bath last month. This latest controversy won't do his reputation any good, and the incident is being investigated by Bath authorities.

He is alleged to have been 'swanning around like he owned the place' at a local pub before being asked to tone it down. An argument ensued and as can be seen in the video, he was knocked out cold with one punch from what is alleged to be teammate Carl Fearns.

Henson lay prone on the bar floor for a few minutes before he was picked up and seated in a chair in the corner, but was reportedly spotted talking with Fearns and the rest of the players, ten or so that were there that night, before they later left.

Chief executive of Bath RFC, Nick Blofeld said: "We are speaking to all those involved to clarify the situation. When we have all the facts, we will make any appropriate statement."

That was a snap jab with no leverage. Henson's a soft touch.

Looking back at old videos he used to be a real class act on the pitch, embarrasses the welsh.. What a waste of talent

If you have that sort of reputation surely at you would try and salvage what is left of your pretty questionable sporting career and try and perform dutifully on and off the pitch and also prove a few people wrong......or maybe he is just a bit of a tool.

The biggest surprise here is that anyone was trying to hold Carl Fearns back.

Man gets punched: man punched is blamed.
Give the guy a flippin' chance. He may have been a prat but getting punched isn't a crime.

He's had quite a few chances at this stage. I don't blame him for getting punched. I do blame him for getting up in the face of a bloke with a handy right jab. He was asking for it.

how many chances does this tool want? club after club have invested in this so called "superstar". youre only a star when you've proven yourself at the highest level, year after year. This self tanned troublemaker, who craves attention constantly, has only achieved one good tackle, and one good conversion against England, years ago- the media have thereafter taken over. When he was still in the papers and with church , he gave up rugby, failed , and tried to come back . club after club have failed to realise that he is a selfish, conceted , big headed twat who never thinks of how important a "team game" rugby is- and he will NEVER settle into a team environment. Do i feel sorry for Bath _NO, some clever dick, like many others still THINK he's a good rugby PLAYER.He will NEVER Be, or never has been a good rugby player because he is selfish, and by now , very very SAD.

You are wrong Robin. He was a class player in attack and in defense. The tackle on Tait and the PENALTY kick against England were only the most iconic moments. Even Gatland recognized it and gave him a go with the national team. Such a waste of talent

Froliks is spot on. If this was a video involving any other human being, everyone would have regarded him as the victim. Now he seems to be the purpotrator. Quite pathetic actually.

Stop press. Carl has admitted to hospital and is receiving urgent medical treatment to get some sort of poisonous orange dye off his knuckles.

I dislike Hensons antics as much as the next guy but i thought this was a rugby site.. not a frickin celeb gossip site!
Sort it out mate!! I love this website!

Last time I checked Henson was a rugby player... So it kinda is rugby news.

We had information on Jerry Collins in Japan and now we have this. Although I don't want thousands of "everyday" lives videos, a few now and again show us they are human...

Whatever happened to him btw.
Whether gats is to blame or not is pretty much a moot point. He gets into trouble so much he's a liability for any team. Having said that, a few punches can sort out a lot of problems with getting someone in his place.

No idea think he's back in NZ..

Henson is always in the shit.... with only speculation/non concrete words.. I'd still put money on it being his fault this time...

Gavin Henson, you are a disgrace to yourself, to your family, to the nation you purport to love and most of all to the game of rugby. Get yourself to rehab, good boy, and stop being a complete and utter knob.

I found this to be quite a shocking assault actually and regardless of what i feel about Henson this was a totally out of order reaction and could have done some serious potentially fatal damage had he fallen and hit his head.

There was a time when rugby players were animals on the pitch and gentlemen off it. Now sadly that seems to be a thing of the past, think I might take up squash.

I actually came on this video for a laugh, and as funny as it was, it's also very sad. It is sad that Henson has now added "getting KO'd in a pub" to his resume, but it is more sad that he has had blunder after blunder... And what's worse is that anyone with his many blunders would have been cut loose and left to drift into fourth tier rugby or beyond long ago, yet people have looked at him, seen the undoubtably great player he once was and have said "we have all had our problems, lets give him a break" and he has let then down. What's EVEN more sad is it has happened 3-4 times now???

I think he needs an ego adjustment, when he taken on by one of the clubs he kicked off because he wasn't starting straight away etc... Also seems like he has a problem with alcohol too... Perhaps he should ask the player he insulted (JW) for tips, cos that man doesn't appear to have let his career go down the pan!

As I said, sad really.

...but a wicked jab!

I know for a fact that GH was being roused all day and evening by people trying to get a rise out of him.
They got it... unfortunately the rise was at the expense of CF who told GH where to go. GH continued so CF finished the arguement the way any proud northerner would.

I just with the video was longer so you could see CF sit down and finish his pint. (I did make the last sentence up but its probably true anyway).
Boys will be boys....

I think there is a strong case for "initiation" here... Carl Fearns being the 'new boy', maybe it's a new requirement at Bath to KO Henson, perhaps we will see more videos of new comers doing the same in the future...
