Jamie Roberts poor pass bombs try after great break from Jonny Sexton

British & Irish Lions stars Jonny Sexton, Dan Lydiate and Jamie Roberts are all at Racing Metro in France this season. So far Sexton has played pretty well, as can be seen with the confident break in this clip, but on this occasion Roberts failed to finish off what could have been a great try.

After fracturing the defence, all Racing needed to do was get it wide and a try was sure to be on, but Roberts' poor pass killed the move. As you can see, he was pretty disgusted with himself.

It mattered little though as they bounced back from last weekend's loss to Toulon by beating Oyonnax 22-9. Sexton scored 17 points and Virgile Lacombe scored a late try to seal victory.

He's not used to this many club games in a season!

excuses, excuses, the welsh are the first to shit on another teams player having a bad showing and the first to make the weakest excuses for their own

While I don't think your comment is wrong per se, I think WelshOsprey was just making light of the fact that Roberts barely ever plays because of injury rather than making excuses for him.

No worse than Jonathon Davies passing. Maybe it's a Welsh thing...

Imo the break by Sexton deserves more attention than the pass by Roberts.

Ironic that, prior to the Lions tour, everyone's reasoning for not including Tuilagi was that he "couldn't pass". I like Roberts, but I have never seen him pass regularly, and when I do see him try it, it's generally pretty poor.

Great run by Sexton though.

It's bizarre to me how players can get to where they are in their careers and still not possess the fundamentals of the game - i.e. Catching and Passing......things that 8 year olds are taught.

No real pressure on the pass - just a lack of concentration probably.

Its easier to create a rugby player from an Athlete than v.versa Tom croft was player of the tour for the 2009 lions, but having returned to his club he was back doing individual passing training the following week at liecester tigers.....core skill improvement is never too late
