Ulster score stunning tries to start PRO12 with strong performance

With round two of the Guiness PRO12 right around the corner, we look back at some great action from round one in the match that saw Ulster defeat Newport Gwent Dragons 29-8.

Dragons got things started with a successful penalty from Fly-Half Nick Macleod, who then completed an impressive long range chip-kick to Pat Howard who crossed for the Dragons' one and only try.

It was all Ulster from there as Ruan Pienaar and Rob Lyttle put their marks all over the match.

From the 20-minute mark, Ulster forced turnover ball and Pienaar, with a brilliant chip of his own, set up Lyttle for the first of his two tries.

Six minutes later, winger Jacob Stockdale also showed some nice chip-and-chase skills for a try.

As previously mentioned, Pienaar played superbly. As well as setting up Lyttle for his first try, he also bagged a try for himself after charging down a kick from Newport Gwent's Carl Meyer.

The most acrobatic try of the game belonged to Rob Lyttle. After being set up with a run and pass from Charles Piutau, Lyttle kept the ball in play while diving out over the touch line and as far away from the defender as possible to dot the ball down for his second try of the night.

Ulster would score one more try through Rob Herring, and once again Pienaar would put a fine exclamation point on the game with a sweet curving kick for the conversion.

Round two sees Ulster away at Benetton Treviso, while Newport Gwent Dragons host Zebre.
