Carlin Isles inexplicably fails to score what would have been a great try

The HSBC Sevens World Series took place in Cape Town this weekend and delivered some memorable moments. Unfortunately one of those was an unforgiveable blooper, one of many in the last few days.

We saw Seabelo Senatla hitting his 200th try, the fastest man to do so having reached the milestone in just 35 tournaments, and the USA side shocked the crowd by beating New Zealand and Australia.

We also saw a great handoff from England's Harry Glover, while Scotland's Jack Cuthbert scored a sublime eight-second try from a restart.

However, one person who will certainly be trying to avoid replays will be the USA's, Carlin Isles.

Despite being in imperious form so far in the series, at one point things just did not go to plan as he added his name to the blooper reel after he dropped the ball with no defenders around him and an open run to the line.

Thankfully he saw the funny side of things and was able to laugh it off. He did something similar on his fifteeens debut for Glasgow Warriors a few years back though.

However, Isles is just coming off an injury-ravaged 12 months and earlier in the tournament he clocked in at a top speed of 37kmph.

MUST SEE: On the same weekend, we also saw Chris Ashton 'score an own goal' by botching a kick, and Teddy Thomas get shown up over the try line when he should have scored.

You can see full highlights from day one of the 7s below, and the final day highlights - which saw New Zealand beating South Africa and then Argentina to win the tournament - below that.
