Aviva Premiership Highlights Wrap-Up for Round 19

It was a historical weekend in the Premiership as a world record crowd attended Wembley for Saracens vs Harlequins, a game that now has the largest ever attendance in club rugby. Here's a quick wrap-up of what took place in each match.
A crowd of 83,761 turned out at Wembley to watch Harlequins beat Saracens 24-19 and in doing so, extend their lead at the top of the Aviva Premiership table.
George Lowe was the star for Quins as he scored a try and put in an impressive defensive effort, with one incredible try saver in particular. Jordan Turner-Hall also scored, as did Danny Care.
Elsewhere, Elliot Daly kicked a massive penalty to snatch a last minute 26-24 win for Wasps over Gloucester. Former Kingsholm native Nicky Robinson had an off day with the boot so young Daly stepped up and duly slotted the winning kick, easing their relegation fears.
Short highlights and a summaries of all the games are included in the video below if you missed them and need to catch up. If you don't have time to watch, the results were as follows:
Newcastle Falcons 22 - 19 Sale Sharks | Leicester Tigers 43 - 13 Worcester Warriors
Bath 6 - 26 Northampton Saints | Saracens 19 - 24 Harlequins | Exeter Chiefs 18 - 11 London Irish
London Wasps 26 - 24 Gloucester Rugby

Lwazi Mvovo hits the turbos for a great try against the Brumbies

The Sharks beat the Brumbies in Canberra for the first time since 1998 as they came away with a 29-26 win despite a late fight back from the hosts. One of the tries of the match was this effort from the visitors, and speedster Lwazi Mvovo.
At 29-19 to the Sharks with ten minutes left, the game looked wrapped up but a late effort from Nic White had them scrambling, and the home crowd of Canberra on their feet. It looked as though it could be another last minute win, but the Sharks held them off and took the spoils.
"To be 10 points up with four minutes to go on the clock, you'd expect it would pretty much be game over, but we've seen in this competition what can happen," said Sharks coach John Plumtree.
"I was just pleased to hear that final whistle," he added.
It was the first loss for the impressive Brumbies this season, who despite an exodus of players and a change in management, have put in some great performances.
Young Jesse Mogg had scored a nicely taken try earlier, which could possibly have also been featured on here, but the try of the game was this scorcher from winger Lwazi Mvovo, who handled twice then streaked down field before turning on the afterburners.
The Sharks head to New Zealand next, to play the Hurricanes in round seven.

Best Tries of the Top 14 - Round 21

We've got another ten of the best tries from the Top 14, this time from Round 21 of action, which took place last weekend. As the name suggests, it features the top tries from the round, as picked by television station Canal+.
It's Monday and as usual there's a mad scramble to catch up on everything that's happened around the world of rugby over the last few days. You'd think that's a relatively easy task, but it can be quite a challenge, especially when maintaining a standard.
With that in mind, it's best to make sure nothing is missed out on so rather than kick on with games that took place this past weekend, here is a video that was actually broadcast this weekend, but features tries from matches in Round 21, which took place last weekend. Still following? Good.
There's a fair mix of tries in this one, with a few examples of oustanding handling, great support play, and of course raw speed. As the old cliche goes: speed - you won't find it on ebay.
Stade Francais produced some amazing rugby against Agen, which is in fact a game we've been meaning to post, so may do at some stage this week if possible. Felipe Contepomi played a huge part in that one, and it was nice to see former Wallaby number eight cross for a great try too.
Enjoy the compilation, and as mention on our Facebook page earlier, if there's anything you spotted this weekend that you think could be posted on the site, please get in touch.

Andy Goode red carded for high hit against former team Leicester Tigers

Former England flyhalf and Leicester Tigers stalwart Andy Goode was sent off against his old side after he flew into Tom Croft with a high shoulder. It was his second card of the night, but was officially a straight red card, issued by referee Wayne Barnes.
Worcester suffered a 43-13 thrashing from the Tigers at Welford Road, who scored seven tries in the process. Scott Hamilton, George Chuter, Martin Castrogiovanni, Thomas Waldrom, Tom Youngs, George Ford, and Tom Croft all crossed the whitewash.
Croft was on the receiving end of a Goode shoulder charge late in the first half, which was a straight red card and nothing to do with his yellow card for a professional foul earlier in the half.
Warriors head coach Richard Hill said Goode was devastated to have let his side down, but all the blame for the heavy loss shouldnt rest solely on him.
"He has let the players down to an extent but you can't blame anyone, it was one of those things. Andy wouldn't have wished to do that at his previous ground. Andy is distraught, he is really disappointed about it and he has apologised to the players."
"It was pretty tough after that. Once down to 14 men we had to reshuffle and at half-time we put a 10 on and we were down to seven forwards. It was hard all night. Leicester were exceptionally good in patches and I think we did as well as we could," Hill said.
A citing and suspension could come into play, but Leicester Director of Rugby Richard Cockerill felt that there was no malicious intent and it should be left with the red.
"I know Andy very well, he played here for a long time. I'm sure it's not the way he would have liked to come back and have that happen so it's disappointing for him.
"Hopefully the red card will be sufficient and he can play the rest of the season," he said.

Australia beat Samoa in classic final to win the Tokyo Sevens

Australia beat Samoa 28-26 in a dramatic Tokyo Sevens final earlier today, coming from behind to score a last minute try then slot a touchline conversion. It's their first tournament win of the current HSBC Sevens World Series.
Wearing lime green, Australia made their way through the tournament playing some inspired rugby, culminating in their impressive win over Samoa in the Cup Final.
"We've really come a long way, it's not easy to win a cup final. They showed a lot of tenacity, courage and commitment against Samoa. It was an extraordinary final and I'm really proud of them,'' said Australia coach Michael O'Connor.
Captain Ed Jenkins scored the decisive try at 26-21 to Samoa, giving Matt Lucas the unenviable task of having to slot the dropkicked conversion to win the game. As you can see in the highlights below, his never didn't falter and Australia won the game on the final whistle.
"It's a pretty young squad and we had an idea today that we should never give up until the final whistle, and we never gave up," said skipper Jenkins.
New Zealand, who were beaten 17-12 by Samoa in the semi final, stretched their lead at the top of the overall standings. They now lead Fiji by six points on 128, Fiji are at 122, and South Africa are third with 105. Australia are up to six place now, with 84 points.
The next round, and penultimate of the series, is in Scotland May 5-6.

Johan Goosen finishes classic Cheetahs try vs the Crusaders

The Cheetahs pulled off an impressive upset win over the Hurricanes in Wellington earlier today, which was a reminder that this classic team effort from them last weekend wasn't featured during the week. So here it is.
No doubt a contender for try of the season, the Cheetahs turned it on against the Crusaders last weekend and actually were in the game, threatening a bit of an upset at one stage.
The class of the home side came through, but not before the talented guys from Bloemfontein produced this fantastic try, which featured star flyhalf Johan Goosen twice in the move.
Wing Willie le Roux and center Andries Strauss were prominent, and it came about mainly due to the attacking attitude the Cheetahs have embraced in this campaign. Today, in Round 6, they were rewarded for their endeavour with a very impressive 47-38 win over the Hurricanes.
The Cheetahs were behind 32-10 with ten minutes left in the first half, before they pulled things back and went into the break tied at 32-32.
We'll get highlights of that game up in the archived Super Rugby Highlights section tomorrow, but for now here's a look at this classic from Round 5, a brilliant example of running into space and offloading in the tackle, letting the ball do the work to beat the man.
