Toulon turn it on at home with thrashing of Sale Sharks

About the newspaper throwing in Toulon,
It's another thing with the war with LNR and Serge Blanco.

In 2009, Serge Blanco liked to hate Toulon in newspapers, "Toulon never won anything", "Money for nothing", "rugby values", etc... etc...

You got to remember than Blanco played only 1 french domestic final with Biarritz in 1992, it was his farewell and last game, and... Toulon won it. Since then, the great player became a fat and frustrated rugby CEO...

So, in 2009, when Biarritz came in Toulon, with a good old referee choosen by ... Blanco, they were leading the score but finally lose because Toulon scored 2 tries in the last minutes.

And since that day, newspapers flew...

The guy that usually shout the Pilou-Pilou (the 1st to shout) is a real tatooist and I suppose he's making a bit of commercial for his shop with the fake face tatoo on TV.

The second man who shout here is Charles Berling, a theatre comedian and Toulon native, who owns a theater in town and he's just a one shot guest by Boudjellal for the media hype. Other french "people" come to shout the Pilou.

As written before, the Pilou-Pilou was written in 1948 by fullback Marcel Bodrero during a hangover night (not a legend !), it means nothing and it was just a drunken haka fake for fun.
But Bodrero was a great sport teacher and academy coach for 50 years, and the Pilou-Pilou became the junior and youth victory anthem.
It became a fan shout in 2000 when Toulon was relegated by the LNR.
The LNR threated the club of a huge bill because it was shouted on the stands with a megaphone, and megaphones were forbidden in stadium (weirdly only in Toulon, not in Agen or Biarritz then...)
So, to piss off the LNR, the club decided to shout it with a mike. So more than one stand could shout it.
And paid 15.000€ fine for years, before the LNR finally let it shout.

Harlequins, Ulster, Clermont and Toulouse are in a high pace too.
Montpellier lie in ambush for the moment.
Winter is coming :P
Only spring will tell the truth...

A long way to go.

Best Tries of the Top 14 - Rounds 8 and 9

Refs speaks in english because... They are english...
Those 8 and 9 days, there were french refs in UK and british ones in France.
To prepare the first round of the HCup which came few days after that

Of course most of french refs can speak english sometimes.
That made funny vids, when a french ref had chosen to talk in english to Steffon Armitage who's fluent in french... Then talked french to afrikaneer Bakkies Botha few minutes later.... :'-)

Classic tries scored as Toulon go five-from-five with win over Montpellier

Fred Michalak - Vincent Martin - Alexis Palisson to Matt Giteau -
ball lost
Nagusa counter strike, go to the ground,
Jocelino Suta win the ball on the ruck, pass to David Smith to Pierrick Gunther.

8 players touched the ball, 3 foreigners, 2 foreigners had lost the ball. :D

French flair, definitely french. Ha ! :P

Ok, just kidding.

Romain Poite enjoys the funny game, but Geordan Murphy disagrees

What Poite meant was that such a kiddy fight is funny, compared to french mass brawls he is used to.

Fights are always enjoyable, though.
