Eben Etzebeth banned for attempted headbutt on Nathan Sharpe

Its a bit inconsistent if you consider how many punches are thrown that miss yet there is no sanction applied. The current rules suggest that you need contact first, not just intent. It was a stupid thing to do as headbutting is right up there for longest bans if guilty, but to get 2 weeks ban for not really landing anything seems a bit harsh.

John Afoa suspended for four weeks for dangerous tackle

Touch and go in my opinion; he did lift the players legs up and didn't 'bring him to the ground safely' but to me it was more him turning with the tackle and hammering him. Definitely shoulder into the ground first, and I guess as the shoulder is part of the upper body it is classified as a spear tackle, so harsh but technically correct and if they want to eliminate spear tackles from the game they need to punish all cases so players are more careful when executing a tackle

WIN a copy of the official Rugby World Cup 2011 game

PS3 please; played the demo and I thought it rocked and at least in the game I don't have to worry about Bryce Lawrence bad calls ;-)

Delon Armitage suspended for dangerous tackle on Chris Paterson

Whether the tackle was made with intent or not is immaterial. It was high, leading with the shoulder. It was therefore dangerous and deserved a suspension. What gets me is why are the minimum sentences always lessened? It is called MINIMUM for a reason, the suspension should not be less than that level for the offence that was committed. If there were mitigating circumstances then the ban should be set at the minimum level, if not then it should feature somewhere between the min and max levels.
