Dean Greyling suspended for two weeks for strike on Richie McCaw

I really don't understand these Citings for yellow cards. This was clearly in front of the touchjudge, who saw it and decided it was worth a yellow. If it is due more than the 10 minutes then surely it should be a red. How is it justifiable to ban a player for an extended period but to allow him back on minutes after the original offence - please could someone explain the logic, I've been trying to work it out for years.

The gloves come off during North Island vs South Island match in New Zealand

when did a lifting tackle become illegal?

Sonny Bill Williams puts the shoulder in against the Highlanders

Whatever decision the referee makes (in this case the right one, penalty and nothing more) I find SBW's attitude pretty vile, he may be a great player but that doesn't give him the right to speak to a referee like that. The sooner he is in league the better if he doesn't change his tune!

Carl Hayman suspended for four weeks for Zee Ngwenya spear tackle

Also I've just realised the commentator said "you've got to put them back onto their feet" - somebody sack him on the grounds of incompetence at his job for not knowing the laws

Carl Hayman suspended for four weeks for Zee Ngwenya spear tackle

This is absolutely ridiculous. Maybe a bit of a "tip" but Hayman landed before the Ngwenya who landed on his front, I have never seen anyone break their neck by landed on their front. What is Ngwenya expecting when he runs through a pack of forwards with that body position - someone to shout "touch" then put the ball through his legs for the next phase.
Also I'm pretty disappointed with the commentators here, calling for a red card - for that?!?
Finally anyone else pick up on the headbutt? It's clear at 1:41, definitely more worthy of a ban than the tackle.

James Haskell banned for punches on Cheetah Justin Downey

just a little biff between two flankers as a scrum breaks up. Nothing to write home about, no citing necessary at all!

Sam Vesty butchers try as Tom Varndell chases him down

This pratting about has potentially put the nail in Newcastle Falcons' coffin. Fair play Varndell, not many players would have bothered but you may have saved your team's bacon!

Ben Youngs cited for striking London Irish's Jamie Gibson

Are you serious, Williams gets a straight red in the world cup for slapping Brussow after a similar situation and this is just a penalty reversal?!? Could the touch judge have been any closer with a clearer site of what happened - safe to say he has absolutely bottled it.
I don't want to see bans for this sort of thing, just consistency, a yellow would have sufficed without any need for a ban in my opinion!
On a side note - Youngs is a nasty little man who needs a taste of his own medicine sooner rather than later...

Keven Mealamu struck with bottle after Bulls vs Blues game

100% agree, according to Google Definitions:
reckless; (of a person or their actions) Without thinking or caring about the consequences of an action
Pretty sure Ranger though about the consequence of his actions - "hmmm if I try to tackle this guy into touch he might not score..." and it's pretty clear he did care about the consequence given that he sprinted across a pitch to do so.
Absolutely disgraceful suspension decision!

Bradley Davies & Stephen Ferris controversial tackles discussed

I 100% agree with you stroudos. I remember playing a few years ago and nobody batting an eyelid at what would now be tackles receiving at least a yellow card, nobody ever got injured. The there was the BOD incident and there was a lot of fuss, things calmed down a bit; then a citing body was brought in, a lot of the time they were bored as they had nothing to do so started picking up players on smaller items. Stuart Barnes makes a big fuss on Sky every time something that causes some backs to wave their arms in the air happens. Now the game is getting silly. Remember Tindall's tackles on Gregan in the RWC final, nowadays that would be worthy of a 6 week ban, at the time everyone loved it. Davies, only a little man, is completely right - the game is getting soft.
