World Rugby announce zero tolerance approach to contact with the head

Less tackles around the head, good thing.
Lower tackles lead to more offloads, good thing.
Fewer players having careers cut short due to head injuries, good thing.
Accidental tackles being recognised as a 'thing', good... er... thing.

Happy with these guidelines. Basically if you're not careful and smash someone in the head, expect a card. If they dip and you clip their head by accident, then it might just be a penalty. The referees now have a bit more flexibility, not less.

Edinburgh's Burleigh sent off amid Papé playacting

That's because all of those top try videos are boring and sanitised! How many comments do most of those things get?! It's nothing to do with them being French, FFS.

Dylan Hartley facing another large ban after knocking out Sean O'Brien

Mate, how many front rowers have you met who didn't have anger management problems?

BT have disconnected his internet so he doesn't see this. They don't have the bandwidth to deal with his response.

I feel the need to reply to you, because below it's descending into mudslinging.

The one problem I have is that when a player is recorded diving and is posted on RD, if the player is French then we have to make this a discussion about whether or not the French are unfairly treated, or if French players are more prone to it, yada yada yada. The majority of French players are lions, many play with incredible heart, and often their passion and desire to win tips them over the edge. I don't believe there is any meaningful difference between different nationalities. I mean, we all agree that Chris Ashton is a prat, and that Delon Armitage is scum, and they're both Englishmen.

So....

With that said, we must return to the heart of this issue. Let's not end up obscuring the perfectly valid point that diving is shit, shouldn't be part of the game, and should be met with absolutely furious retribution from the game's governing body.

Surely we can agree that diving, regardless of who does it, should be punished. Can we make this the thread where we discuss what punishment we'd like to see handed out to the people who do it?

In order to try to have an actual balanced discussion, let's have no more mention of people's nationalities in this specific thread. We KNOW we'd all get along if we were arguing about this in the pub, even if we didn't agree, so let's keep it civil.

Dylan Hartley facing another large ban after knocking out Sean O'Brien

The writers of the Dylan Hartley show are just running out of ideas next. There is no way a real person would consistently get himself into these hilarious scrapes. Aaaaah, Dylan.

I wonder if Dylan's latest ban will see a return of 'NZPhill', now he has time on his hands.

Given that he has missed a year of playing time out of his eight years as a professional, I think we can give him the benefit of the doubt. Maybe it was during his suspension for headbutting that they covered swinging your arm into the back of an unsuspecting player's head.

Three big bumps in latest edition of Smashed Em Bro!

I'm guessing RD has grown to such a point where they can't just put up any video without permission from the rights owners. Most of the old content was just random stuff on Youtube. Nowadays it's all from broadcasters.

Think he normally plays at 11 or 14, but can play at 13 at a push.
