Midweek Madness - Powerful scrum sends pack and posts backwards

You know, that's probably the most sensible option that they could take to solve that problem...instead they'll probably re-address the scrum engagement calls and change those, remove the need for flankers, make scrum halves be continually bound to the scrum, make the front row 4 players, then eventually play scrums across the pitch rather than end to end, before finally making them uncontested...

Tala Gray protects opposition player after nasty injury

...one thing I love in rugby is that this is fairly normal in rugby, (players guarding others!)

Rene Ranger somehow finds Victor Vito with unbelievable reverse flick pass

That Pau number 3 is a proper prop!!! Lovely to see the real spirit of grassroots rugby being carried on into the professional game!

Sergio Parisse 'rucking' technique will make the ball appear every time

It's a sad time for rugby when an article about slapping someone's back in a ruck is condemned...

I remember having a spaghetti junction across my back in one of my early 'adult' games, where I, a fresh faced boy ended up on the wrong side and was shown no mercy from an aged group of forwards!... But hey, they at least showed me the courtesy of not rucking my head!

That sort of thing got people moving very quickly, or at least addressing your technique!

UPDATE: Sekope Kepu banned for that shoulder charge on Hamish Watson

Interesting point actually, as a forward I was taught a few rucking techniques, one being if there was enough support behind me, then go into and beyond the opposition player, therefore allowing the players behind to successfully secure the ball or seal (seal the right spelling here? :/) I never really considered how far I could continue to make contact... But you're right that if I'm continuing on 5 metres etc then it's obviously some sort of obstruction..

Sekope Kepu sent off for shoulder charge as Scotland thrash Wallabies

Not sure I'd use the word conclusive.... Think of it this way, they angles shown for Kepu are showing a guaranteed shoulder to head...

The angles for Vunipola suggest that there may be a case, but they aren't conclusive... So to red card him would be to suggest that the gap in which you can't see has been filled with a speculative decision... I'm surprised it wasn't a red anyway, it was certainly 100% unnecessary, but unlike my earlier post suggesting it should be a red, I can't say I can completely rule out that it wasn't a shoulder to the head.

If a new angle emerges after the game showing the forearm hit Barrett's chest or something like that, then we'd all think any red cards were harsh and wrong, truth be told this is a referee decision that only he can make based on what he sees, we can disagree with each other or with him, but I reckon different nationalities would show different cards..

As for the Healey incident.. not sure on the date looks at least 4-5 yrs ago maybe? and if many players were carded for things like that, but I think I remember watching that and thinking "he'll be off" especially as the referee raises arm for advantage straight after it..
