All Black legend Mils Muliaina scores first try in USA Pro Rugby with first touch

Agreed.... I can only assume this video falls into the category of a bit of rugby news about how a pro player is getting on in life whilst trying something a bit different.... Because the try was bloody boring and Muliaina did about as much work as I did boiling the kettle this morning....

Thank God I play in a position where I only have to catch it when someone throws it at me....

Rugby Training Mistakes: Specificity - Not Training For Your Position

Effective strength is also important - so not packing on size just for the sake of it.

Also it'd be interesting to see studies on players size and their proneness to injury, especially as you mentioned joint and ligament injuries. It's a catch 22, on one hand you have more support around the joints, however on the other hand you're putting phenomenal forces and extra weight on joints at odd angles.

England beat Wales in tour warmup match at Twickenham

What has happened recently that has made all these new (ish) 10's come into the game with some sort of chip on their shoulder and a petulant attitude?

What happened to the old school 10's which were focussed on being silent until necessary and being that pivotal point in the team where on each extreme (forwards and backs) you have some ****wit in their own capacity but the 10 was the epitome of neutrality and cool headedness who could ruin the oppositions day by slotting a bunch of penalties or drop goals.

Maybe a few bad apples are spoiling the bunch, but Biggar is being a mouthy shit on most occasions, Farrell is just a mouth on legs, Ford had a sneaky go (where the referee said "oh I'll change my mind then" but then seems to have quietened down somewhat, Sexton has turned into some miserable faced git who gripes and whinges and feigns injury..... I don't know how the Scots are holding up, they seem to be doing ok as their 9 is the one doing the barking - (which is ok in my eyes). French don't seem to bad - although I don't know whether they've made their mind up who their 10 is anyway.... Italians don't have a 10....

As for the rest of the world... I'm not sure how they're getting on, they all seem to be too busy winning stuff to have a chip on their shoulders...

Giant Bok teammates Eben Etzebeth and Lood de Jager come to blows

Agreed, apart from his non headbutt headbutt against oz a few years ago...

Enforcer role really doesn't exist anymore... In pro rugby players are so well schooled that focus on physical skill etc is only part of it, mindset, discipline etc is a huge part of training.... granted for every action there is a reaction, so players taught not to react, whilst EE is taught to provoke a reaction... But I think this is why there is a huge amount of petulant whining going on in the game, because players won't react - therefore their reaction manifests in different ways (bitch to the referee about it)...

What I'm getting at is that if someone like Etzebeth grabs you, you can just throw your hands in the air and stay focussed on your game, and then what? The enforcer role has disappeared... whats he going to do? out wrestle someone who isn't even competing? - that looks stupid and pointless. Will he punch someone who isn't fighting? Again, stupid and will land him in hot water...

The game is so tight these days that even Bakkies found himself sitting on the sidelines far too much. Martin Johnson and the mean eyebrow is somewhat laughable these days (not to his face mind)... but what is he actually going to do to you now? In the days gone by, he was the player that stepped in to sort you out when you were picking on one of his guys... these days that is what cameras, touch judges, referees and TMO's are for....

It's always good to stand there and look mean. I don't shave a few days before a match - makes you look rougher and meaner, but really it boils down to pissing in the wind, especially when a pre pubescent baby faced winger skins you and just makes you look like an overgrown untidy lump... EE's days are number unless like you said, he turns into a mean and extremely skillful player...

Side note, anyone read about new laws to stop players feigning injury? Not sure how they can be applied if players really argue an injury but interesting!!

Ergo *chortle*

Precisely my point, anyone with half a brain wouldn't moan at Owens - so I'd assume Biggar wouldn't do it....

Mitrea needs to make a stand before teams target him as a weakness in their pre match briefings...

Hitoshi Ono suspended for reverse headbutt against the Brumbies

To be fair, I've seen him do much much worse! Stabbing zombies, sticking a knife into the eye of a sleeping 'saviour', and I'd imagine you'd have some issues if you were top on the list of the "who got smashed by Lucille"....

So this whole reverse headbutt thing is pretty small fish in comparison....

Southland Boys upset Otago Boys as Hakas set the scene for stunning individual try

I suppose now it's almost become an insult not to do... iirc, the AB's only used to do the Haka every now an again, almost perhaps to the teams they really wanted (or needed) to impose themselves on... but I guess if they don't do it to your team these days, it's perhaps deemed disrespectful as it could be seen as a sign they don't take your team seriously....

PC gone mad I guess..
