George North free to play after sickening landing worries fans

You have to consider consequence and action. Imagine a situation where someone takes a swing and misses completely. Is that as bad as a punch that connects? Clearly not. Should it still be punished to some degree? Clearly. A balance has to be struck between the two.

There's no practical purpose to discussing a hypothetical situation that never has or ever will happen

Severity of consequence is a very strong indicator of danger of action. Of course the action changes how someone falls. What else would?

It's really not that unlikely at all that Savea could have stopped him

Wallabies disallowed try viewed as a major turning point in loss

There certainly wasn't a lack of Australian outcry following this try (albeit justified outcry). From what I can gather the defence in both cases is 'obstruction but not enough obstruction to alter the eventual outcome'. For me it has to be a penalty in both instances.

Seems like a pretty straightforward obstruction call to me. Not sure I understand the controversy. Whether or not you think Speight would have made it regardless of the obstruction is irrelevant. The fact is that there was an obstruction and you can't know for sure what the outcome would have been.

Eye Gouge denied by Brive's Mathieu Ugalde despite incriminating footage

How eye gouging is so rife in rugby continues to baffle me. It's not in any way an instinctive way to attack someone. It's so disgusting I can't even begin to wrap my head around it.

Plus if you're not a Kiwi it lands you with a seriously lengthy ban. Why do it.

Willie Le Roux signed by Wasps for 2016/2017 Season

It's the brand of rugby wasps are going for. I'd also say all of those players can front up big time. You could easily reverse the question and ask how Toomua and Tuilagi would cope with that pace. Time will tell.

I would say that I'm a little disappointed with how wasps are using the money bank to chase trophies.
