Manu Tuilagi admits to assaulting police officers, won't be part of Rugby World Cup

Thankfully your personal desire to assault Ashton is not relevant, DrG.

Manu Tuilagi admits to assaulting police officers, won't be part of Rugby World Cup

I’m probably dragging this out a lot more than it needs to be. My point is that punching is unacceptable full stop. A rugby pitch can never give you context to attack someone. So why do fans behave otherwise?

On Tuilagi, if you accept adrenalin as a mitigating circumstance in rugby, then why not outside of rugby? Realistically how high up Manu’s to do list is ‘spontaneous throttling session’? We don't know the full details of the case, but you don't just throttle a taxi driver without provocation - for me that sounds like something that would get the adrenalin flowing. You either accept both or neither. For me it's neither.

Consideration of both intent and outcome is of course very important. Too often one is ignored or the concepts are conflated. Again, we don't know the full details, but from what we have both the intent and outcome seems far more sinister when he attacks Ashton, does it not? I certainly know what I'd rather be on the receiving end of.

Manu Tuilagi admits to assaulting police officers, won't be part of Rugby World Cup

I'm comparing the reactions of rugby fans to two specific incidents and showing the hypocrisy of it. So this third hypothetical situation you've dreamt up has no relevance to what I've said.

It's not who the action is done to that's important here, it's where it takes place. Apparently many believe a rugby pitch is exempt from the rules of normal life.

It's becoming far too easy to label someone a troll simply because you disagree with what they say.

Land a series of brutal punches on the rugby pitch and you're a hero. Comit a less violent act off it and you're a scum bag.

Gotta say the rugby community's moral compass spins more aimlessly than Jack Sparrow's.

The Top 5 Aviva Premiership Tries plus Highlights Wrap - Round 20

I do love discussing the little ones! The quality of 'em is so high in world rugby right now. Can't wait to see Hidalgo-Clyne break through, a touch of JVDW to him.

The Top 5 Aviva Premiership Tries plus Highlights Wrap - Round 20

Is there actually anybody who truly believes Wigglesworth and Dickson are better players than Simpson? This isn't even based on current form. He's been performing at this level for seasons on end. His talent is finally being recognised because wasps are now a top 6 team.

La Rochelle defeat champions Toulon 32-29 with dramatic try in the final play

Classy stuff from Gorgodze. Starts arguing with the referee. Upon getting sent off, bumps the ref with his shoulder. He then gobs on the pitch before deciding to amble around the dead ball area like a sulking child. Oh dear.

Video tribute to new Harlequins winger Tim Visser

Incredible try scoring stats in the pro 12. Quinn fans'll be pretty excited at the prospect of a Yarde, Visser, Brown combo. Lethal stuff. Edinburgh have let go such a powerful runner. So why has this guy has been so disappointing for Scotland. A few well taken tries, no doubt, but Visser must surely want more than that. The best of Ugo Monye is a related video and I can't help but feel they've both had a similar career path so far. Both look like the real deal, the next big thing... only to be underwhelming given their apparent athleticism.

Still, great signing for Quins.
