George North knocked out again as Nathan Hughes gets red card for knee

Totally agree with you on this one. I love Hughes, he's an awesome player and clearly didn't try to knock North unconscious. I'm not sure I see him trying to kick the ball out of North's hands (probably because I'm looking through blue and black tinted glasses). But all that is irrelevant when a player is lying spread eagle and motionless on the turf.

I think someone's already mentioned the O'Connell/Kearney incident. I think the Payne/Goode incident is also totally relevant. For me, intent and motivations should influence the length of ban but the colour of the card surely can't be affected when something this dangerous has happened.

Scrum caps provide absolutely zero protection from concussion.

England and France's Twickenham thriller not enough in dramatic title chase

Bloody good game but the defensive coaches have something to answer!

Ireland stay on track with victory over England in Dublin

The only role I see him playing is a backup to a fully fit Tuilagi, alright player though he is.

Agreed. Except when he's in the shithouse behind his own try line with 50 Irish defenders trying to tackle him!

Love that, Murray was so influential all game! Definitely thought he could have got MoM over Henshaw.

Definitely agreed on 1,2 & 3 - not to sure what happened to 4?! :D But you can't really believe Wigglesworth is better than Youngs. Granted I'll admit Youngs is a bit of a turnstile, whilst Wigglesworth is strong in defence. But that's hardly the defining trait of a good scrum half. For me I can't imagine a lethal England back line with Wigglesworth at the helm.

Youngs, Care and Simpson must surely be England's strongest options right now.

Jamie Heaslip accepts cited Pascal Pape's apology but is out injured

Why is being civilised reserved for after the game? I'm all for aggression. I'm all for big hits. I'm all for players legally smashing the daylights out of each other. This is rugby after all. But buying your opposite number a pint after the game doesn't give you permission to punch him in the face during it.

No, no, no this is not classy from Heaslip. Rugby is indeed a physical game but these things don't just happen. Kneeing someone in the spine doesn't suddenly become acceptable because you send someone a nice twitter message. This is just like the incident between Ma'afu and Youngs a while ago. Ma'afu absolutely creamed Youngs in the face and became a hero of the rugby community because he sent him a jolly apology message. Not only has it now become acceptable, but this sort of thing is actually being celebrated as a sign of rugby's values. A game for hooligans played by gentleman? Pshh
