Leigh Halfpenny injured making brave try-saving tackle on Luther Burrell

Very good point. If you don't get your head on the wrong side you can't get all of your body behind the tackle. As you said the try probably would've been scored otherwise. Although from a Welsh perspective I'm not sure it was really worth it. Halfpenny is a small guy for an international player and he's really making a habit of this technique. I seem to remember when Wales played Australia a few years ago, in the final play of the game Australia scored a winning try and Halfpenny ended up getting pretty much knocked out. Colombes mentioned the almost identical tackle on Strettle 2 years ago leaving him pretty dazed. It's commendable to see someone so willing to put their body on the line for their country, but how long is it before we see something even more serious than a dislocated shoulder.

Scott Higginbotham sets up try with crosskick then scores with goose step

Good player but the dude's not playing international rugby any more.

I understand you're point about the 03 England team, but surely the balance Australia would get with Fardy at 6 instead of Hooper is worth something. Bear in mind Fardy has performed every time he's played for the crims. To me he resembles a slightly more athletic and just as crazy Tom Wood. Neither Hooper nor Fardy is a bad choice and it's one of those good dilemmas coaches often face I guess.

Morgan Parra banned for two weeks for head butt on Rene Ranger

"Silly manners"? If nothing else the thread shows Parra has a worryingly large history of "silly manners" as you call them. Although I think I prefer the terms "right hook", "uppercut" and "overcompensating for something". In much the same way any player comes under criticism so to does Parra. Hardly pathetic is it.

Unlike most people I actually feel a bit sorry for Picamoles. Plus he's cost be a bloody transfer on fantasy rugby!

You seriously start to wonder where they find these guys. Not only are the talking nonsense but they do it in a flat, mumbling, monotonous voice. At least with someone like Miles Harrison he sounds interested by his own nonsense.

England hold on after tense battle with Ireland at Twickenham

It's interesting that Burns has been completely left out of the England picture because of club form. Morgan has been pretty awful for Gloucester all season but he's been awesome for England and I don't think there's anyone who would say he should be dropped. I often get the feeling people read too much into club form. This is why I can't understand why Dickson is being played ahead of Youngs. If they're good enough, they will shine on the international stage. That's the way I see things anyway.

I honestly think Sexton's kicking contributed more than anything to the end result. Cian Healy and Devin Toner haven't really been given enough laudits as perhaps they should've done. They were giving Sexton great ball but more often than not he seemed to feed it back to the England back three.

As you suggested it could well be that the English back three were just much better at covering the pitch than the Welsh were last fortnight. But that would surprise me given the inexperience of Nowell and May, and the quality of Halfpenny and Big George.

Beauden Barrett wins IRPA Try of the Year 2013 for try against France

If North's try were a 79th minute winner in a World Cup final, this would still be better.
