Wales win in Paris as France lose for second time in succession

Clearly, the ref was a serial whistler. This game was stopped every minute. Every scrum was replayed 4 times... Hard to say if it was always necessary. What I can say is that the whistle was heard more often than usual. Much more.
Even tough I like the french, I think they could have been penalized a couple of time for high tackles, in the beginning of the game. On the other hand, penalizing the french scrum was almost every time a wrong call from the ref. You could see that the welsh scrum was suffering. After 20minutes I said to my buddy "In the end, the welsh scrum will collapse and the bloody ref will understand where the problem comes from". Didn't happen so clearly, but in the second half the ref began to penalize Wales more often.

Agreed. They seemed even weaker than France, except for that try. What France lacked most in this game was a long range kicker. When you get a penalty and go for the line, you just cant accept a 15 meters kick. If that's the best you can do, just run with the ball! If you want to play 1914-18 kind of rugby, you need big guns.
But France looked really stronger as far as brute force is concerned. Still, this lack of ambition/inspiration is sad... Thank god Scotland was there to score tries this weekend! (what an unusual yet happy thing to say!)

Big fight between Belgium and Georgia in Rugby World Cup qualifier

Constantly provoking for....let me see....ah, yes, 3minutes.
I always found it very cool for Georgia to have such a good team. I like underdogs and I hope all the rugby underdogs will get better and challenge the establishment. But this attitude here is really sad. There is no "you got what you deserve". This is the ugly side of a violent amateur rugby. Nothing to do with the spirit of the game.
Truth is, Georgia had a hard time versus Belgium because Belgium is getting better and better. Now our rugby team is as good as our soccer team, 10 years ago no one could have predicted that! So let's forget this mess and rejoice!

The exact pre historic kind of state of mind that should disappear quickly from the game. To teach a lesson, you use tries, not fists. And I you can't, maybe its because there are no lessons to be taught.

What do you think of Picamoles getting out? I think he was one of the few french players actually doing something on the field. I guess this is very tiring, but when you have such a determined mind, I think you can go on for 10 or 20 more minutes. I have never played at that level and I don't know what it's like, but it seems to me that replacing the few players that are burning more energy is not a good idea, unless you intend to spare for the next game even if it means losing this one.

No offense but I m pretty sure Machenaud - Michalak was not the first time. They played together in Autumn. And I think they showed great skill and understanding then. This time they were not to blame (not more than the rest of the team at least). I have the feeling that, beyond the general lack of stamina and precision, the french suffered mainly from the unclear situation regarding centre/wingers. Fritz can be really good, Mermoz...I m not sure.
In this context, Huget did quite a good job as full back. I like Butin, but Huget playing full back wasn't the problem here. Bad coaching indeed.
Frustrating game from France, somehow you could feel they were playing at half capacity.
I hope the italian won't rest on this victory, thinking they have done the hardest part of the job. Because clearly, they haven't. Any other VI nations team could have won against this french side.
And I hope les Bleus will take their finger out of their arses and actually catch the ball instead of losing it like they haven't slept for weeks.

Neither french nor italian but I ususally stand for both (unless they play against Belgium :-) I think it was a really weird game. Sometimes quite intense. But then so many mistakes. How many handling errors from france in the end? 15? It was already 11 after the first half! So, very nice game from Italy, but imo, this is mainly an accident.
