James Haskell big hit knocks out lock Alistair Hargreaves

I don't agree with the ref here, especially as he had the benefit of the TMO. Haskell went for a big hit as he's entitled to do, contact was made in a legal area, wrapping was impossible due to the movement of the player being tackled, not due the movement of the tackler...surely that's the difference between foul play and a simple accident of play? I think a penalty is the wrong decision and I can't get my head around the yellow, oh well. Interesting view on the TMO and ref's trusting themselves, in two minds about that one.

Edinburgh's Netani Talei manhandled over his tryline by Munster

Going on current Ulster form I'd say they're in for a hiding!

Arra come on lads, it's not like he punched him, it's been a part of rugby since the dawn of the game, it's all put behind you in the aftermatch pints. It's part of the game and long may it last!

Elvis Vermeulen yellow carded for huge hit on Zee Ngwenya

Hang on a sec, I reckon if Ngwenya had planted his feet it would have hurt more in this case...Elvis was going to clear him out in any case. If he'd had the time to lower himself if might of ended up being high, all you can do in this instance is tense up your torso and get your arms in front of your sternum...which he did.
While we're talking about what he had time to do, notice he pulled his legs up to stay in the air that fraction longer...true pro.
Tough decision in my opinion.

If he had gone for the legs I'd agree with you, but he wrapped perfectly and accompanied the player to the ground...wouldn't call it dangerous in this case.

this refers to the player jumping for the ball...in this instance the player was in possession.
I agree with BoksKick, bold of you to be dictating who can or can't comment when you don't seem to know the rules....even when you quote them....the key thing here is "in the air", if one foot is touching the ground he's not "in the air".

Scott Higginbotham cited twice for knee and head-butt on Richie McCaw

The penalty here was against Mealamu who dived through the ruck and brought the ball with him as he went forward off his feet. Silly stuff from Higgenbottem and fair play to Ritchie for shrugging it off, have to agree with Welsh on that one

The gloves come off during North Island vs South Island match in New Zealand

it was for the tip not the lift. The shoulders can't go down before the waist basically.

Cheap shot by Paulo, he's the only one who I reckon deserves a citing, the rest was just handbags really....or at least look like that from here :)

Sonny Bill Williams puts the shoulder in against the Highlanders

I think it looked bad because he threw him. The left arm was high in my opinion, if it had been the front of the guys neck it would have been more evident. Not much to it though.

I wouldn't go so far as to say SBW is a joke, he's achieved more than most, and to be honest I don't find him as arrogant as people are pointing out. Maybe I've only seen the good interviews. He gets noticed on the pitch, stands out and so yeah, if he has an off day it gets blown out of proportion, but I've seen worse.
I think (the Beast aside) most Saffer forwards would think it over a bit before trying to land a punch on Sonny.
Watch the Ireland game (the 22-19 one) and see how he calmy catches Healy's hand and lets the huff blow over. Level headed in my opinion.
Nobody's criticising the #5 who runs in looking for trouble by the way...is he just a really nice bloke who's never played league? ;)
