Tom Court shown straight red card for tip tackle on Devin Toner

I dunno, if Toner hadn't tried to turn himself around in the tackle he would've gone to ground on his back, probably with his legs under his shoulders. I would say that the tackled player should shoulder some part of the responsibility in his own safety. Harsh on Court, he was singled out as he was the one going forward, but he was one of 2 tacklers.

The new European Rugby Champions Cup explained

that's a great way of looking at it.
I agree that the situation favours Rabo teams less than before, but I'm not sure "shafted" is an apt term.
How often does a team finish at 8th place or less in the Rabo while remaining competitive in Europe?
I think the Irish big 3 will still be in Europe as they usually don't have much difficulty in finishing in the top 7...nor should they.
Let's see how it works out, personally I think that if it's a case of this or no Heineken cup, I'd rather this!

The Top 5 Rugby Magicians of All Time

O'Driscoll and Cullen should be in here instead of Rokocoko and Cooper, Roko was an outstanding winger but I wouldn't call him a magician on a level with Cullen and Cooper has had as many bloopers as he has had magic moments so BoD would be a shoe in for his spot (imho)
Serge Blanco would be my honorable mention.

The Top 5 Brian O'Driscoll Moments of All Time

The Top 5 Brian O'Driscoll Moments of All Time

I'd agree up to a point. Whatever era you play in, the conditions are the same for your peers. BoD has evolved with the game which is what I think sets him apart from others. Geordan Murphy had blinding skill and had it not been for the huge frames of the professional era he probably would have made more of a name for himself.
BoD's numbers are more than impressive, record number of caps, record number of tries scored for any centre in the history of the game, top 6ns try scorer and this is all without counting the number of assists, turnovers and tackles.
As for positions I'd tend to agree with the apples and oranges, different skill sets, physique, role to play in the game.
I think "one of" the all time greats is fair, it puts him up there with Campese, Blanco, JPR, Gibson, Johnson, Wilkinson and yes the great McCaw....I'd say he'd be more than happy with the company!

Stephen Ferris returns to rugby with trademark powerful tackle

Why would we put O'Brien at 8 instead of Heaslip???
We finally have 2 specialist 7's O'Mahoney/Henry, Heaslip is the best 8 we have for sure as far as I'm concerned. O'Brien and Ferris for 6 spot.
Let's not forget Jordi Murphy who's making a name for himself also, if only we had the same depth in quality in the centre's!
Oh dear BoD!
